Since the beginning of time, individuals have found themselves in a compromising situation as a result of miscommunication and vagueness. Failure to seek for details and clarity tend to cause a problem that an individual end up regretting for a period in their life (ThoughtCo ., 2017) . While working in an IT company I experienced a situation characterized by vagueness that resulted in some form of misunderstanding and confusion.
The vagueness situation caused a pretty bad situation. One day, the IT manager assigned me a job as a technical support analyst supporting networks and computers. I, therefore, conducted the function assigned to me as a technical support analyst for three weeks. Afterward, I began undertaking side jobs for my managers which were majorly different and non-related to the technical analyst work. I took the initiated to approach him concerning my current job situation. He responded by stating that I was recruited to undertake such side work and went further to say that he had already hinted about this on the phone. I was surprised and confused, all that I had heard was that I would be hired to work as a technical analyst but eventually, there would some extra work.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Besides not getting recognition for all the work that I was doing, I was also not paid for the entire elevated workload. The situation was weighing heavily on me and every day seemed to get worse. After about a month, I had to resign upon finding another suitable job to a competitor company. At my new job, I made sure that I understood my roles and duties.
Based on the article Moneycrashers.com (2017), I realized that a s far as the use of language is concerned, I should have asked for more clarification on what he meant by “extra work” to avoid the confusion that emerged later. I firmly believe that the entire situation could have been avoided if I had asked for clarification and more detail concerning the job that I was recruited to undertake and where it was eventually going.
