School Counseling Program Planning
The school I’m employed under requires its students to undergo periodic counseling, to ensure that the students are of sound mental health and that anything that may disrupt their studies psychologically is not only known but also prevented. To this effect, the school has instructed me, the Head counselor to train and orient two more counselors, into the school’s health department, to aid its student body in any challenges that fall within the personnel’s mandate.
Program Outline
Evaluating all applications sent to the school for the two positions.
Establishing a credible list of ten applicants, to be interviewed for the job positions.
Interviewing the ten candidates, assessing their knowledge and experience in counseling.
Selecting two out of the ten applicants, who are best qualified for the job positions.
Two week period for basic assessment and induction into the school’s operations.
Organizational Needs
The school requires professionalism amongst its entire staff, inclusive of the counselors. To this effect, the following will be done:
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Three tests, to ascertain their knowledge level and confirm that they are knowledgeable in the field of counseling.
Allowed to meet different student categories/classes and teach them about the most prevalent issue as per their analysis of the audience. This will show the counselor’s situational awareness and knowledge of their predominant client(s).
Place them under probation basis after the two weeks of training, to assess their understanding and grasp of the skills at hand.
Implementation
The program outline will be carried out in two weeks, with the first week being for evaluation of the interviewees and the second for implementation of the objectives under the organizational needs. The implementation will also seek the incorporation of the efforts and the knowledgeable inputs of the school religious head (chaplain) for the students with religious needs.
Administrative Needs
The counselors will report to the school needs.
The counselor will need a private office in a secluded place t ensure that the school maintains the privacy of communication.
The counseling office will also be fitted with training materials to enhance the interactions, relaxation, and recovery for the traumatized students.
The counseling department will need some budget to finance the out of office session that may be necessary from time to time.
Criteria for Evaluation
To determine the effectiveness of the counselors, their ability to do the following will be evaluated;
Ability to assess students.
Listening capabilities of the counselors.
Communication capabilities.
Ability to appreciate diversity.
5. Authoritativeness of the counselors
