PROTECTION OF HUMAN PARTICIPANTS 3
Research question : Adolescent Violence and Social Media: Is there a Connection?
Hypothesis : The increase in adolescent aggression directly correlates with the increased use of social media and the negative aspects it contains.
Discussion
Potential ethical issues encountered in the research study populace may arise in many ways. First, in the event of research, researchers may obtain specific evidence that concerns the conditions of a participant without their knowledge that surround their psychological or physical problems. To counter that, the researcher ought to inform the participant early enough if he/she believes the participant’s future well-being may be endangered other than keeping it as a secret.

At the onset of any research involving human participants, researchers must clearly describe the right to withdraw if any audience feels insecure or uncomfortable regardless of whether payments are made or not.
It is also ethical to debrief the audience of the full information that surrounds the entire research process once the research study has concluded. This is to ensure that the target group is acquainted with all the necessary information that completes their understanding of the nature of the research. Another important is the need for researchers to maintain the confidentiality of the information obtained from participants. This is critical and is bound by statutes which include the Data Protection Act (Gravetter & Forzano, 2009). Therefore, those being studied expect their information to be secured unless agreed upon in advance and if printed on paper, they also have a right to demand that the information should not be identifiable as theirs.
There must be a fair procedure for selecting research participants basing on gender parity (Gravetter & Forzano, 2009). Before choosing a viable group, they should be given relevant information about the whole study in a language they can understand other than intimidating them or rather coercing them into participating in research since research studies are meant to employ humane treatment.
In addition, there is the need for researchers to obtain informed consent that regards the study group. Researchers should also desist from coercing the target group as a means of displaying the aspect of respect for persons being studied. Incorporating the feature of beneficences also paramount to ensure the reasonable balance of risks and benefits alongside humane treatment.
The applicable principles of the study should be reaches as per the consensus arising from the need to put into consideration worth of persons in their right, and not just concerning their utility for the research (Gravetter & Forzano, 2009). Valuing personhood embraces the idea of giving full esteem on one's autonomy by providing the necessary information and situations that enable the person chosen to decide whether to engage in the entire process. Beneficence requires that researchers maintain the priority of a participant's wellbeing over the outcome of their research while justice on the other hand deal with the agenda of treating clientele equitably.
