The internet has revolutionized the nature of social interactions. Freud and Fromm’s psychodynamic traits were studied and constructed when the subjects enjoyed direct interaction with their audience. That is not the case today, the development of social media sites can bring a new understanding of the four traits. People spend much time on social networks and less on actual physical interaction resulting in the alteration of their personalities. The erotic big ego personality traits that would want praise lavished on them can respond differently today to Freud's tests, most definitely he will have to redesign his procedures (Northouse, 2010). Significant questions as to whether the use of social sites creates the standard environment for the development of the psychodynamic traits should be probed. The accuracy of the results will have to be tested or proven through a comprehensive process given that the atmosphere created on the internet platform differs from that in the real world. Whether the characters are expressing themselves genuinely or they are just taking advantage of the anonymity created by media and absence of one prying on their speeches and other activities online can easily be a confounding factor in a related study.

Presently, I believe the internet has brought people closer and that the availability of information has the potential to transform people with one personality trait into a completely different person. An individual is bombarded by many reactions and responses, which results in a complex web of information sharing with the potential of impacting his mind as compared to the level of interaction in Freud's day (Northouse, 2010). The amount of peer pressure, especially among the youths who are still molding characters, exerted on the minds of online users plays a vital role in moving some to express their traits especially those who are shy or even make some pick traits that are alien to them. The result can be people with a mixed psychodynamic personality that it would be difficult to classify them under the four categories.
