Early psychology and Christianity complemented and enhanced integrative blend in the overall understanding of human cognitive behaviors that resulted to healthy living. Watts (2018, p.23) asserts that psychological assessment are processes aimed at evaluating individuals behaviors, cognitive abilities, personality and other psychological domains. Christianity imparts our inner faith strength which has some similarities with psychological assessment motives. Christianity helps alleviates our day-to-day weaknesses and shortcomings. The ultimate purpose of psychological assessment is to aid in therapeutic processes and ultimately solving the causes of weaknesses in humanity that will result to healthy living standards. From my previous topics knowledge, I can attest that psychological assessment and Christianity blends and is complementary to one another in the long term objectivity perspective.
Faith believes that psychological assessment processes enhance human general understanding on human behaviors, cognitive behaviors and emotions (Watts, 2018, p.54). The bible gives people the instructions on how to determine one’s holistic behavior and emotions, by following Gods commandments. The bible enhances spiritual and healthy living of humans in this world, whereas psychological assessment tools aims in determining and evaluating people behaviors, cognitive behaviors and emotions, and eventually advising on best alternative course of actions and medication processes (Jung et al., 2020, p.64). In chapter one, I extensively learned psychological assessment types. The first type is the collaborative psychological assessment where the assessor assesses works as partners. The second psychological assessment type is the therapeutic psychological assessment where self-discovery is achieved through assessment processes.

To illustrate a few examples in the bible to confirm the complementary between psychology and Christianity, I will utilize the case of Paul in the Bible. In the book of 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul urges and directs Christians to hold every personal thought captive, and make their thoughts devoted to Christ. In complementary to psychological studies, every human being has an average six thousand thoughts, and if they are held captive, they can follow certain best thoughts which will in turn improves peaceful co-existence amongst themselves ((Jung et al., 2020, p.75). Also, in the book of Romans 12:1, Paul instructs Christians to evade the worldly evil patterns of life that can make them sin against the God. In comparison to psychology assessment on human’s behaviors and emotions, the major cause of behavioral and emotional deviation is shift in life patterns like alcohol abuse, violent crimes and greediness.
The scripture also nods the processes of testing. In the book of Judges 12, the book affirms and provides cases where there was testing. The first instance happened when God used Gideon to administer fleece test. This assurance from God, enabled Gideon assemble an army of 32,000 to fight in the of the Medianite fighters who were many in numbers. Fighting and defeating your enemy requires skillful tactics (Roberts, 2108, p.46). Before Gideon began to fight with his 32,000 army, 10,000 remained eventually. God stopped the army was too large to pass the fleece test, and he assured Gideon that Israelites will win the fight eventually. From this perspective, the scripture also accepted testing processes amongst the people.
In the same scripture of Judges 12, we can find a selection test of life or death. It was against Ephraimite’s denial of identity on his tribe. Jephthah’s men instructed Ephraimite’s to pronounce the word Shibboleth loudly, and if they failed to pronounce ‘sh’ loudly, they were termed to have lied 42,000 times. All the Ephraimite’s failed the test on that life or death occasion. The two testing in the scripture of Judge affirms the process of psychological assessment and testing in the modern era. Unlike the ancient scripture testing, modern psychological assessment and testing involves complex utilization of technological advancement methods with the ultimate maximization of statistical models that ensures real-time, efficient and error free assumptions and outcomes.
The bible character I would like to do a psychological assessment and testing is David. This is because David committed adultery and murder. According to Watts (2018, p.86), adultery is an illegal punishable act of sexual manifestations with a married woman, while murder is the illegal killing of a person without reasonable valid reasons. Murder is usually charged as a criminal act and attracts severe penalties and even death sentences. In the book Samuel, when David saw Bathsheba bathing, he developed lust on her and eventually had sex with her, knowing well that Bathsheba was Uriah’s wife; this act was adulterous. He later killed Uriah so as to marry his wife; this act was murder.
Despite David growing up with fame because of his musical talent and courageous traits by killing Goliath with only a stone, David later becomes a king after the reign of king Soul. David had immense leadership characteristics that someone cannot imagine why he committed adultery and murder. I find it fascinating to conduct psychological assessment to David so as to ascertain the behaviors, emotions and cognitive aspects that made him commit the acts.
In conducting psychological assessment on David, I will utilize the available psychological types of assessment procedures and determine the emotions, cognitive and behaviors that led David in having lust and sex to Bathsheba and in real sense he was the Gods favored king. The psychological assessment will also enable me to know the behaviors and cognitive emotions that necessitated Kind David to kill Uriah, husband to Bathsheba. After the outcome, I will advise on best behavior and emotion patterns that David must adopt.
