Discussion 2
Topic A: Zachary R. Wood: Why it's worth listening to people you disagree with. TED2018
I have learned that listening to other people is helpful since it presents different viewpoints on various matters. By being attentive to people that you disagree with, a person learns about new aspects which can be helpful in becoming more knowledgeable. I will apply the knowledge I have acquired to cultivate the intelligence in listening to all people despite our social affiliations. Moreover, I will pay essential attention to their communication as it can be helpful to me in many occasions.
Topic B: Peter Doolittle: How your "working memory" makes sense of the world. TED2013
Through the video, I have learned that working memory plays an integral in daily activities by guiding simple decisions. However, I have learned that the working memory is not long term and is often overwritten by following activities in the individuals. I have also learned that it is easy to confuse the aspect of working memory and multitasking as both require attention and consistency. In my practice, I will apply the knowledge to ensure that my activities abide by the recommendations by the author. I will process information immediately and repeatedly to reduce cases of forgetting the same in the future. I will also think elaboratively and illusively in context to the presented information and questions asked. I will also be organized on how I process information and ways I can use the data to make decisions.

Dan Ariely discusses the concepts of cognitive limitation, especially on the concepts of guiding our own decision. Topic B: Emily Balcetis: Why some people find exercise harder than others. TEDxNewYork 2014
The social psychologist states that perception is a subjective experience and the general perception about an activity interferes with the overall decision made by the individuals. I have learned that viewing an exercise as being a hard task is an effect of the general perception that clouds the judgment. However, if I view the same task in a positive manner, I will find it to be a more comfortable aspect and will thus be motivated to be involved. The learned aspects will help me in deciding about various aspects of life depending on my perception about them.
