Qualitative research in healthcare is a scientific method of research that involves gathering non-numerical data such as description and characteristics of things, concepts definition and their meanings to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivations. Leung (2015) asserted that research data is obtained through unstructured techniques such as group discussions, participation, and interviews from specified criteria. Furthermore, qualitative research provides insight into the healthcare setting by doing an in-depth understanding of the healthcare system, develops ideas and techniques to offer quality and better healthcare services ( Turan, Mankan & Cengiz, 2018) . Quantitative research in healthcare is a technique used to generate numerical data that can be used to provide usable information. The research uses measurable data to develop facts from defined variables and give a general opinion from a larger sample population. Additionally, quantitative research is used to make statistical interpretation to make sense of data and predict the potential behavior of patients’ outcomes (Creswell, 2017).

Qualitative research has a stronger impact in nursing compared to quantitative research since nursing career focus more on care based system that dwells more on quality rather than quantity (Leung, 2015). Nurses are trained more on the qualitative aspect of research by extending quality care to critically ill patients who require them to offer their best service. Nursing constitutes healthcare delivery to patients to reflect different facets of quality, to inform direct experience in social phenomena of care based system within the healthcare setting. Thus, the qualitative approach will help to gain underlying reasons as to why quality of services being extended to the patients is not within the minimum standards (Doherty & Purtilo, 2015). Therefore, the qualitative approach focuses more on patients concerns to relief them from pain and deteriorated health which is the core objective in nursing.

Ethical concerns in the first article explaining health-promoting life-styles of nurses would perhaps be the failure of nurses to deliver quality healthcare services due to other competing priorities in the healthcare environment and family responsibilities (Doherty & Purtilo, 2015). Nurses should have the ability to multi-task and get time to do some physical exercise to manage stress and improve their wellbeing. From the second article, ethical issues would be medical errors or negligence by nurses while administering intravenous catheters (IC) as a mode of fluid treatment and infusion of various medicines (Leung, 2015). Cases of intravenous infection due to lack of sterilization have been prevalent in the recent past. Standardized sterilization has become mandatory to reduce catheter infections.
