A quasi-experimental design is mostly used where the factors of research are not easy to manipulate or change. This research design is applied whereby procedures are put in place to make observations in a study structure just like an experiment; however, in this case, the participants’ experiences are not controlled by the researcher (Gravetter & Forzano, 2017). The most important thing about quasi-research design is that it gives researchers an opportunity to study only the factors that are unique to the characteristics of the participants.
One of the circumstances that this design is preferred over the subject research design is when human participants are being used as volunteers in the study. It’s also used whereby only data about the participants is required. This method is also preferred in social sciences and psychological research studies which involve human beings as participants since it’s easier to observe and collect data from living things. It’s also used where there are few resources available for the research because the randomization of participants makes it less expensive (Martyn, 2018) .

The main difference between predictive and explanatory research design is the intention or the reason as to why the study is carried out. Explanatory is used to explain why the certain phenomenon is the way it is while predictive is used to predict an expected occurrence. The explanatory research design is specifically used where the purpose of the research to explain a certain behavior or the reasons behind why something is the way it is (Gravetter & Forzano, 2017). This design is also used where there is a need to lay the ground for a future research work related to the same topic. It’s also best applied where a new topic is being studied or an already existing study is being done I a different angle.
