Black lives matter is an international social movement that originated from the United States and is dedicated to ring racism and anti-black violence to an end. Police brutality is among the major focus of the movement, and it is meant to condemn the unjust killings of black people who faced their death at the hands of ruthless police. Statics indicate that black people are at higher risk of getting killed by brutal police by the whites. The movement advocates for society to value the life and humanity of black people just like the individuals of other nationalities. It condemned the kind of discriminatory treatment received by the blacks and advocated for a world of equality. Discrimination against the black is viewer from the places they live to denial of essential services and employment opportunities even when they have the same or better qualifications than the preferred candidates.
Among the main goals of the black lives matter movement is to end the implicit bias witnessed against black people. The way that the police handle a suspected black criminal is different from how they handle the while, as it entails brutal action even when the suspect has indicated that they have surrendered and carrying no weapons. It draws attention to the many instances that black people get unfair treatment from society and how the current laws, institutions, and criminal justice systems which include the police, encourage the continuous unfair treatment and implicit bias against individuals from the black ethnic groups. It is with no doubt that blacks continue to face bias in all aspects of their livelihood, and this has made it hard for them to lead a successful life like their white counterparts. Discrimination is experienced in employment, sports, and how blacks get treated by the authorities. The movement has fought against racism to advocate for inclusion by all means, which include political action, non-violent protests, and letter-writing campaigns to combat police brutality and to end the unjust policies inflicted on black neighborhoods ( Anderson & Hitlin, 2016)

Question 2
The killing of George Floyd was among the most brutal killings experienced in the country that raised many concerns about police brutality against black people. His killing was a horrific crime as he died after four police officers pinned him to the ground until he lost his breath. The act was conducted in front of a crowd, indicating how merciless the police are when dealing with a black suspect. As much as the crowd pleaded with police to let of George, no action was taken, and it seemed like the law enforcement officers enjoyed the entire incident of brutally killing the suspect. The incident indicated police brutality and how they lack respect and value for black lives. George Floyd’s death was a clear murder in broad daylight, and his death did not have any justification. It was shocking that the police who contributed to his death went Scott free without any form of detention.
Thousands of people turned to the streets to protest against police brutality and the high level of discrimination that the criminal justice system had against black people. His murder was just one among the many murders inflicted on black people. The incident is a clear indication of how racism plays an essential role in police violence. African-Americans and Hispanics are disproportionately targeted by police for abuse, harassment, arrest, and incarceration. The role of the black lives movement in the incident was to advocate for fair treatment for all and to advocate for justice and an end to the brutal discriminatory nature of the police.
