Institutional racial discrimination occurs because people behave and act in a racially discriminatory manner. Thus, every institution has a procedure on how to implement rules and regulation and this behavior affect their operations either positively or negatively Oppression was used by the European to make them dominant. A model by Mullaly oppression is identified when people are restricted from accessing opportunities that will lead to developing themselves, (Scott, 2019) thus not having the rights that the dominating group is taking for granted. These institutions that classify and mistreat people based on the racial identity and a good example are the Muslims who have not been freely allowed to access all benefits since the 2001 attack on New York City (Atkin, 2018).
Some institutions do not admit a given race of people because of racial discrimination. A student might be very bright but because the school does not admit a given group of a race this is student will not be admitted. In institutions where blacks and white students are admitted teachers do not offer equal treatment to all students (Scott, 2019). Students complain of their work under-marked and this makes them feel discouraged and discriminated (Atkin, 2018). The other behavior is where black students are given different lecturer halls where they cannot mingle and interact with the other white scholars yet they are studying in the same school. This affects the student psychologically making them think they are inferior to the other students.
