Strategic management is primary concerned with implementation of policies that enables an organization to exploit its strengths and opportunities while minimizing the impact of its flaws and threats (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne, 2018). Strategic management presents a number of benefits that facilitate organizational growth. Healthcare institutions are among the organizations that are leading the charge to embrace strategic management. The wide range of benefits of strategic management is the main rationale for its adoption in healthcare institutions.

As pointed out above, the benefits that strategic management presents is the main force that is convincing healthcare organizations to adopt it. One of the benefits of strategic management is proper planning (Devitt, Klassen & Martalog, 2005). Thanks to strategic management, organizations in the healthcare industry are able to develop clear plans that allow them to enter the future from a position of strength. Performance measurement is another benefit of strategic management. Organizations that have integrated strategic management into their operations are able to assess their performance with the aim of ensuring that they are meeting their objectives and strategies (Devitt, Klassen & Martalog, 2005). Another benefit of strategic management is that it enables healthcare providers to strike a balance between the need to focus on organizational growth and the needs of the community. As a result of the adoption of strategic management, healthcare providers are able to commercialize their operations without adversely impacting their communities. Creating a positive organizational culture is another benefit that healthcare providers have witnessed following the adoption of strategic management (Devitt, Klassen & Martalog, 2005). Strategic management challenges organizations to create an environment and a culture that is in line with their values and objectives.
