I must say that somehow, as a teacher, I did not feel the need for any professional development at the start. However, by comparing my state at the beginning and the progress I have made so far, I now realize that the teacher improvement program has enhanced my professional outlook by impacting especially on three fundamental areas: Knowledge, skills, and dispositions.
Knowledge
I believe that my ability to guide the students to success has expanded significantly since the beginning of the program. Instead of reciting facts to the students and acting the main source of information, I now encourage curiosity among them by and creating an environment that stimulates their interests in whichever subject I teach. At the end of the day, it would be my desire to hear a student say that “the teacher inspired me to research on this,” rather than “the teacher told me this”.

Skills
My life skills have also more than doubled and my mind is now more open to creative and critical thinking. Creatively, it is easier for me to present difficult concepts comprehensibly. Critically, I encourage students and my colleagues to critique every situation with appropriate evidence. Further, my emotional intelligence is stronger than ever before.
Dispositions
Teachers are leaders and, thanks to the program, I have mastered the art of being one. The interaction with the principal has been vital in building my empathy, tolerance, and understanding. These qualities continue to support my leadership in teaching and create in me a sense of responsible over my work environment.
In sum, the teacher improvement program has expanded my knowledge in student development and enhanced my teaching skills. The principal has been a key figure from whom I have emulated my leadership disposition.
