Being the only Indian in American school was also hard for me just like Fern, this is because of a feeling of isolation that sets in when things are done in school. I have been under the same situation as Fern when my parents moved to America and taken to American school, it was a difficult experience especially when it comes to interacting with students, I could not feel the freedom I use to get back in India. Being an immigrant is a challenge at times; this is because there is cultural difference that results to isolation. Americans are not all good especially when it comes to racism, you find that they ignore other people’s culture, it is up to the immigrant to go out of his way to learn and adapt to the new environment. Being a teacher and an immigrant made it more challenging, it is the expectation from the community that a teacher should be a good example to the students and also to the community, I managed to adapt by being friendly and social to students and the community (Jain,2016). .

Tribal affiliation is a ‘social construction’ which means that tribalism has resulted to a barrier in social life. In many cases, when there is low social life, it could be as a result of tribalism, because it isolates people of the same tribe and creates a barrier. Tribalism is an act that has resulted to conflicts globally; it is a social barrier that creates fear among people especially the immigrants. No one defines what a person is; however, the culture defined a person through their ethnic backgrounds. Identify has been determined by certain people in the society because they do not advocate for tribalism, they rather be identified through other things but not tribe. Also there are those who are identified by tribe in our communities.

Taking with Fern in regards to being successful and confident, I could encourage her to continue with the courageous spirit, this is the only determinant for her success. It is not easy to adapt to the life of another country especially where there is tribalism, however, with courage, one can be able to overcome all the challenges. She has what it takes to be successful even if she is an immigrant, therefore she should pursue her dreams.

With the escalating rate of drop out of American Indian students, it is important to take an initiative to minimize this rate. The community, teachers and students should collaborate and end such issues like tribalism and racisms so as to encourage immigrant students. There should be cultural activities that will encourage students to interact and share cultural values from different diversity. The American Indian students should also be encouraged to participate in both American and Indian cultural appreciation so that they can see the impact of equality in schools. They should also be encouraged to participate in extra curriculum activities that will motivate them in school as well as boost their courage and confidence.

Indian students should not participate in the science lessons; this is because the lessons are purely intended for the American Indians students. Allowing the Indians students to participate will also mean allowing the Americans to participate which may result to conflicts. The lessons are intended to encourage the American Indian students to becomes active and participate in activities that will boost their confidence as well as their ability to express themselves in the midst of other students. It is important to incorporate the American Indian students on how to go about science lessons as it involves various experiments. Therefore it will not be appropriate to invite the Indian students (Dhingra, 2016) .
