Josephine’s health professional advises, coordinates, supports, informs, and counsels on the right nutrition program such as lifestyle goals and nutrition. Josephine’s confidentiality is paramount such that his/her details or information should not be disclosed to a third person except with the express consent of the Josephine. The HIPAA privacy rule suggests for the health professional to provide Josephine’s medical record, he/she must receive a patient record which authorizes who can receive or release information, and for what purpose the health and nutrition information the other party requires. Health professionals must have sound privacy and security protocols in place so as not engage in any violations that could result in severe penalties since it is challenging to afford the HIPAA compliance (Thomas).

Motivational techniques to motivate Josephine to continue making progress

Losing and maintaining a healthy weight is a commitment, and most patients may lose faith along the journey. Simply receiving information on how to eat healthy foods and prescription of exercises to engage in is not enough, rather the professionals should help and motivate the participants to use behavior change strategies. Josephine needs the motivation to help her remain physically active and eat balanced meals, and the health professional should guide her through the three behavioral changes that are initial, improvement and maintenance of weight stages. This action will help Josephine develop her plan which will be easier to adhere to them in the long run. Besides, self-reinforcement is a good motivational technique for changing behaviors and helping the patient make recommendable progress. Some individuals adopt or change behavior when presented with intrinsic motivators while others are more into extrinsic motivators such as new clothes, or money. The motivators are beneficial for optimistic reinforcement in adopting the new lifestyles. For a long-term weight management, Josephine requires intrinsic motivations techniques to focus on diet-related changes and body weight changes (Hongu, Kataura, and Block, 2011).

Progression and obstacles

Losing weight and change of diet is not a smooth journey; it has its negative forces such as lack of enough time and compensation of the type of food that the individual want or needs. Josephine was brought up by parents who lacked interest in eating better, and her mother keeps on cooking food that is not recommended on the nutritional program. Her parent’s lack of knowledge and skills on how to improve their diets is another obstacle that Josephine have to deal with during the program. The problem could be that her mother has inadequate knowledge on the preparation of health care professional.

Payment and reimbursement

For health and fitness, if an individual reaches their goals it brings \overall happiness and improvement on their current health which is the results of their hard work. The external professionals guiding the individual through the journey should be aware of the HIPAA privacy and security compliance since failure to it can lead to penalties. Under the new regulations Penalties have increased up to $50,000 per occurrence.

Individuals require extension professionals to enhance their motivation and ensure they adhere to the goals through behavioral change strategies provision. It is common for participants to face barriers while trying to upholding their steadfast behavioral changes sooner or later in one’s program. These barriers could be personal, environmental and social barriers which vary from one individual to another. However, these barriers have solutions, and the extension professionals aiding the individual should discuss common barriers and offer solutions. Lastly, to succeed the Participants should have a more positive attitude and share their positive attitude with other participants in the program who may have the same barriers.
