To understand health research tools, it is important that one gets to know the concept of replicability as a principle of scientific thinking. Replicability is an important tool for readers to ascertain that the findings done by the researchers are true or false. The concept of replicability enables the readers to interpret their findings in a way they understand better on an experiment that has already been done. It gives assurance that the experiments can be repeated and the findings confirmed as either true or false. As a result, this concept makes the researchers stay honest with their experiments.
For example, it is in common knowledge that malaria is a disease transmitted by female mosquito otherwise called Anopheles. If a new research concluded that malaria could be transmitted through any other means apart from the already known anopheles, readers would become skeptical because it contradicts the common knowledge already existing. If the researcher gives detailed information and procedure which he followed to reach the new findings, then the other researchers would be so curious that they would dare to repeat the same experiment following the same procedures to either confirm that the findings are true or false. This research would be replicated by several other researchers interested in the topic. However, when the paper does not give any procedures on how the research was done, then the readers would find it difficult to test the contradicting conclusion.

Even so, this does not mean that science requires every study or experiment to be repeated. Most of them should, however, be replicated especially those that show contradicting findings. There are several fields in which it is a standard requirement for a researcher to replicate one’s work before doing any publications. This would ensure that the findings are a true reflection of the initial findings. The desire for replication is the main reason why research papers usually include methodology section, describing how the study was performed. This allows other researchers to replicate the research already done and evaluate its quality hence helping in eliminating cases of fraud.
