How can your results be applied to the field of psychology?

Psychology being the study of the human pattern of thinking and how it influences their behavior, the obtained results will help psychologists to develop the concept of personality in a broader manner. Naturally, it is argued personality of an individual solely relies on genetics and hereditary factors. However, the environment is added as an aspect towards personality growth (Kander, 2012). Psychologists are better placed to understand one's context and possible reasons for their behavior when offering guiding and counseling services.

Additionally, the results will be significant to a psychologist because it argues that the environment plays a role in shaping diversity one's pattern of thought, lifestyle and general behavior (Kander, 2012). There is a healthy interrelationship between different races of people who live in the same environment.

Methodology Section

The section defines research methodologies used such as research site, description of the design, sampling techniques, sample size, variables of the study, research instruments and data analysis method. Design of the study is the plan structure and strategy of investigation concerned to collect data on research questions.

Sample Size

The sample for the study is 30 since it gives a more sizeable and manageable sample to use survey method. It also encompasses the cultural diversity within the area of research. Cultural diversity will be incorporated into this study to validate the David Riesman's theory. The theory classifies human beings into three major forms of the social character. The three categories include tradition-directed, inner-directed and other-directed. This implies that each culture exhibit principally one or other forms based on its specific stage of population progress a certain period (Kassarjian, 1962).

Participants will be between ten and 40 years given that this the age where individuals’ interaction with environment become evident. Ten participants each will be drawn from the age groups 10-20 years, 20-30 years and 30-40 years respectively. The participants too will be picked from different settings including, urban setting, suburban, country settings. The societal class will also be considered.

Hypothesis

HO: There is a strong correlation between individual’s personality and their environment.

HA: There is no correlation between individual’s personality and their environment.

This research is designed to find out if indeed an individual’s environment defines their personality.

Methodology

Survey method will be used to gather relevant information. The technique is relatively inexpensive if one administers them by themselves. More so, samples are viable rendering the outcomes statistically significant in evaluating multiple variables. Various questions can be posed regarding a particular issue hence surveys are considered flexible to the study.

Methodology design

The methodology design applied is the conclusive design. This method is structured to give a definitive answer to the hypothesis. This design methodology is well suited for this research since the intention is come up with a clear solution as to whether environment affects behavior.

Procedure

The sample population will be selected randomly from participants willing to take part in the survey. Observation of their behavior will be done during the research period which will last for a month. The participants will also be required to answer structured questions. For example, Most of your friends are within which age group? Do you believe that your colleagues’ behaviors is influence your behaviors? How much time do you spend with your friends in a day?
