Resiliency is the ability to withstand adversity; this is where an individual is able to overcome life challenges by gaining strength and bouncing back to normal life after a trauma, stress or depression. Many people undergo different situations that subject them to depression and other conditions, this makes and individual to experience certain changes in their life for example lack of self esteem, lack of confidence, withdrawal, poor social life and inability to achieve certain goals in life. When a person is under such circumstance, it is important to develop resilience because such situations can push and individual to commit serious offence such as suicide.
My understanding of resiliency has been enhanced by answering the questions and I have learnt that I need to improve on my personality. Learning your own weaknesses and strengths will help in making decisions regarding on how to bring the best out of you. I have learnt on my strengths and how I will use them to overcome the few weaknesses. Also the resiliency questions have enhanced my ability to help others become more resilient. Factors such as communication, positive attitude, patience, understanding your weaknesses and strength as well as being creative and social are important in strengthening person’s resilience. I have learnt that it is important to develop resilience so as to overcome many challenges in life, adversity creates resilience and hence it is important to know how to handle every adverse situation. Answering resilience questions has enabled me to evaluate myself and gauge where I am when it comes to being resilient. I need to work on my social life so as to enhance my ability to help others as well as have a balanced social life which is important when under a difficult situation. Being in touch with people close to me is also important because they are the people I will seek a shoulder to lean on.
