The Nike store was a victim of a terrorist attack a few years back. Terrorism is a global concern, and the management of Nike has never ruled out the possibility of another attack following the first attack on the stores (Brittain, 2018). It is worth noting that the store was not the only victim of this vicious attack. Several other businesses in the jurisdiction have suffered similar attacks over time. Because of the numerous attacks on other businesses in the jurisdiction, and the large consumer traffic that visits the store, Nike store has never ruled out the possibility of another attack (Manley, 2009g).

Company response plan

As the saying goes, once bitten twice shy. The management of Nike store has endeavored to make the premises safe for customers, workers and all other users (Nixon, 2018). Lots of changes have been made to ensure that future attacks do not claim the lives of innocent store visitors. There have been some notable structural adjustments at the store to promote safety (Nixon, 2018). A case in point is in the outlay of the shelves at the store to ensure that in the event of another gun shoot attack, all users present can get a place to hide as they assess the situation and ponder on their next moves. As opposed to open shelves that were used before, the shelves are currently on concrete blocks (Nixon, 2018). In addition, the glass walls that are used to partition the offices and safe house have been replaced with bullet prove glass material. Importantly, users go through revolving doors and are screened before gaining access to the premises (Nixon, 2018).

Employee training

In addition to structural changes, the members of staff have been trained on how to respond to incidences of attack. The employees of the store have undergone continuous and vigorous training on how to respond to a shooter attack and other forms of attack at the workplace. This training has equipped them to first respond by taking care of their safety first and were possible the safety of those around them ( Lin S, 2018 ) . For instance, in the case of danger they can alert fellow employees and customers by shouting for them to run ( Lin S, 2018 ) . They are trained to hide in the available office spaces such as the warehouse, the bathrooms and the strong room and lock the doors to ensure the attackers do not gain access.

After they are safe, they should call the emergency number to alert the law enforcement agencies of the attack. The employee are also trained to be keen details so that they can give a helpful account of the attack when the law enforcement arrives or when they ask for details over the phone ( Manley, 2009i ) . This would be details of how many the attackers are and where possible the physical features and description.

Once can never be sure of how they would respond to a real life threat or attack. However, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. This is why at the Nike store, the management sets aside a budget and follows a laid down strategy to ensure that the store is safer and the workers are prepared for emergencies and threats in future. The Nike management is confident that the members of staff are well equipped to respond responsibly in the event of another attack.
