What Did You Learn?
One of the most important things that I learned from the video is about rational therapy (RT). It is based on several hypothesis or prepositions such as the fact that the past is not crucial in the life of an individual. Whereas the past plays a critical role in influencing a person, it is imperative to note that the individual affects themselves a more significant deal than the past. Therefore, RT premises itself mostly in the present and not the past.
It is also crucial to learn that people experience negative emotions, self-defeating behavior, and inefficiencies because they associate themselves with what is referred to as the simple exclamatory senses which are ideas that human beings tell themselves in all kinds of language such as pictures, non-verbal languages, and verbal languages among others. When individuals speak to themselves irrationally or illogically, then they create negative feelings and emotions that affect their behavior. However, in some instances, the person tells themselves ‘’sane’’ things leading to proper behavior.

Why Is It Important?
It is vital to understand RT as a method of therapy because it is different from other conventional methods of psychotherapy. Unlike other methods, RT attempts to give the client an ideological perspective of the problems they are facing. Another important reason why this therapy is essential is that it explores how the patients re-indoctrinate themselves with the ideologies a factor that contributes to their disturbances.
RT also focuses on assessing and reassessing the philosophical assumptions of the patient to determine how they develop the negative feelings of self-defeat inside them. It is also important to understand that most psychotherapy processes are based on words alone. However, RT gives a different perspective as it attempts to include actions by receiving concrete homework that will allow them to practice whatever they have learned through words. The RT is crucial because it gives the client a lifetime opportunity to question their values and thinking mainly when they are experiencing negative feelings such as anxiety and depression.
How It Relates To My Personal Goals
One of my most important personal goals is to live a life that is free from negativity. I always make attempts to avoid negative feelings such as anxiety, hate, and depression so that I can remain at peace with myself. The RT method of psychotherapy discussed in the video critically analyzes not only how to access remedies but also how our attitude problems develop. As a student, I have always wanted to achieve in everything I engage in. However, in various circumstances, I tend to fail to meet my targets leading to massive psychological disturbances.
The video suggests a method of therapy that can be employed in assessing and evaluating an individual to determine the source of their problems. Lastly, I have always wanted to understand human psychology and it how it operates for a long time. The video has thus given me a significant platform where I can relate the psychological problems people face, their origin, and how well they can be mitigated.
New Questions
Whereas the video has attempted to be conclusive in explaining how rational therapy can be valuable in solving psychological problems, several gaps and questions arise after watching the video. One of the major questions about the RT is its suitability in dealing with perfectionism. From the explanations in the video, RT is only presented as a method of overcoming negativity through analyzing oneself.
Another eligible question that comes about is how RT can be used to enhance progress in an individual. The video has failed to show how the therapy can achieve long-lasting happiness in a person having highlighted how it helps people overcome the barriers of negativity.
