As the head of Riverbend police department, I am in a management position, one of the primary functions a manager is to accept diversity and make it work for the greater good of the organization, in this case, police department. One of the ways of implementing the principles of good diversity is first accepted its general existence, and make the rest of the staffs accept as well (Choi, 2009) . This means that as a manager I have to express genuine understanding and make time to learn about the different key values, perspectives, and ideas that are that are expressed by the diverse group's religion, race or more relevantly sexuality (Harvey, 2015) . This way it will be easy for me to explain and convince my subjects why it is important to accept them as they are. As a manager, I should be evaluating my subjects based on their ability to deliver, not their personal beliefs.
Another effort that will build on the staff's support of diversity is demonstrating the elements of fairness. It is a common belief that treating people impartially is doing the same thing to everyone, this does not always work (Harvey, 2015) . Ensuring that staff understood that everyone is different in his or her way, and to impart fairness, everyone has to be treated otherwise because the difference is the actual definition of fairness in a diverse community. Lastly, a practice that will support positive diversity universal communication, most of the time miss communication is always the source of conflict (Allen, 2015) . When a standard policy is made on the formal communication channels, and consequences are attached for the shirkers. Instructions or communications within the department are demonstrated in symbols such that it is clear for everyone. Then all the loopholes that may contribute to detrimental practices are sealed. This will ensure that the staffs come to terms with the diverse developments without interfering with their practices.
