Personality defines and distinguishes people. In brevity, personality is the sum of consistent characters that show up in a person. Researchers argue that no single factor determines one's personality and empirical evidence strengthen the argument as it supports the role of factors such as hereditary, psychological and the environment (Loehlin, John, & Robert, 2012). This discussion focuses on the role of factors within the environment in the development of personality.
The environmental factors involve cultures of race, ethnicity, economic status, religion, and region. The identified aspects either positively or negatively affect the personality of a person (Keehn, 2013). The importance of considering the environmental factors in this study raises an ethical concern in this study. For instance, the author's environment determined honesty and acknowledging the researchers by citing them. If the school environment did not stress on the ethical research, probably the author would have plagiarised other researchers work.

Admittedly, evaluating the role of environmental factors in personality development requires an ethical approach to address both the positive and negative effects (Plotnik & Kouyoumdjian, 2014). The two-dimension present them based on the abundance of the aspect (religion, economic, race, ethnicity, and region) in the environment. For instance, there is a high likelihood of personalities that work hard to succeed in a booming economy. On the other hand, there is a likelihood of personalities that will break into people’s houses and property to steal food when faced with economic hardships (Plotnik & Kouyoumdjian, 2014). It is evident that researching the environmental factors affecting personality require ethical analysis to avoid presenting misguiding research (Keehn, 2013). The misguided research is likely to support how environmental factors positively shape personality and avoid addressing the negative impact (Loehlin, John, & Robert, 2012).
In conclusion, personality is a total sum of character that is consistent with a person making him/her unique from the others. Environmental factors such as cultures, ethnicity, religion, and region help shape a personality. It is important to consider ethical practices such as evaluating both positive and negative impact on an aspect of research. Moreover, ethical research helps to expound and recommend how unfavourable issues can be solved.
