FDR was brought up as the only child by his parents with so much adoration. His mother had always wanted him to be a reputable American; she never thought of him becoming a president one day (Burns, 2014). As such, she poured all her love and trained her only son on the best behavior. He was a loner child that could not perform well in teams because of the kind of reserved life he was brought up in. He was a nice child that the whole world admired. Roosevelt believed in himself and would remain unwavered in most of his decisions (Critical Past, n.d.). While at Harvard, although the college mates did not like him because he seemed well mannered and owned a different sense of humor, he kept assuring the parents that he was doing well and that they needed not to worry. His entry in politics, even being a lawyer was not stopped by his infantile paralysis that attacked him in 1921 (Enemy in the Mirror, 2015).

The attributes of resilience, staunchness in decision making made him a memorable leader in America surpassed by Abraham Lincoln (Alter, 20017). Roosevelt owned a sense conspicuous courage, gut to try and cheerfulness that saw America rank in his era. He was able to move it from a place of depression that had seen death of an economy in the World War II. From his huge sense of moral, he took the presidency as a moral place to relate with all human other than an administrative one (Leuchtenburg, 1995). The fact that he had been empowered by his mother to view himself with esteem, it freed him from the world’s anxiety thus enabling him to bear all the weights without disturbance. His long attained gusto and bonhomie also played a major role in his leadership because he was able to relate well with Americans despite their huge expectations of him, criticism and his spectrum of ideas that appeared seemingly undesigned (Leuchtenburg, 1995).
