Rudolf Dreikurs was born in the year 1897, February 8 at Vienna in Austria. Having been born into a wealthy family, Rudolf had a sumptuousness life. At his childhood, he achieved many goals including learning French and English and learning music; which in later years came to be his love. He had great skills in literature and presented several lectures in foreign languages. In 1915; during the 1st world war, Rudolf joined the Austrian army as a lieutenant. He also got involved in helping youths since he had high morality and spiritual values.
From experience he got during the war, he developed the culture of promoting peace and helped in retaining humanity in individuals rather than conflicts (Bitter, 1997). He later attended a medical school for psychiatrist training, where he met a great psychiatrist named Alfred Adler. Alfred inspired him, and he got involved in his work; providing guidance and counseling to children in public schools at his home town. In 1937, Adler passed on, and Rudolf had to take his position in presenting a lecture in Brazil. He later moved to Chicago where he improved his psychiatric skills.

He aided in bringing up an organization in North America for psychiatric and counseling purposes. After the Second World War, he helped in building an association based on Psychology. Dreikurs focused on helping youths and children, so he improved Adler‘s methods. He was a classroom management theorist who suggested that human misbehave due to the feeling of lack of belonging to a specific social group. He meant that children should be left to socialize freely without punishment or rewards, so that they can be able to settle on the social group that they belong without influence. He says that if a child is denied the freedom to mingle freely, they act from one of the following “Mistaken goals”; undue attention, power, revenge or avoidance (inadequacy). He wrote books centralizing its content on a day to day life challenges. Some of these books include; A Parent's Guide to Child Discipline, The Challenge of Parenthood, Children: The Challenge, Coping With Children's Misbehavior, a Parent's Guide and Encouraging Children to Learn among others which are so important in parenting. He also wrote on music therapy as well as group psychotherapy and dynamics. This has helped parents in raising children responsibly. He died at the age of 75 in 1972 as a hero of many in the whole world.
