School institutions have a role in mentoring the wholesome growth of children. This, however, is not the case in most education systems worldwide. There is much focus on the literacy acquisition and not the talents and abilities that learners possess. Diversity in the classroom is a factor that all educators have to consider. Not every child will be able to grasp all that is included in the syllabus, hence the need to have a whole-rounded examination and grading system.

Biases in the ranking of subjects has been extended to how the professionals in the different fields are beheld. Mathematics professors are regarded highly compared to their arts and humanities counterparts. This notion is instilled in children at an early age, forcing everyone to strive for the prestigious titles and not on being creative at what they like most. The learners do not exploit their capabilities but instead strive not to fail in what has been generally set as the ideal way into success. Emphasize given to highly ranked subjects such as mathematics is so much compared to that given to music and dance.

The ideas that young learners receive from the designers of the education system align them with specific targets and professions. They are made to believe that engaging too much in some subjects will render them jobless in the future. This, however, is a mistaken perception because the world is on a revolution. Artists and musicians are as successful as other professionals. Educational planners have failed by rating intelligence according to academic ability of the learners. Attaining university entry grade has become a measure of intelligence such that other highly talented and creative individuals tend to belittle themselves. It is, therefore, necessary to value every learner for what they are good at.
