My preconception about science and faith was that religion was the most dominant than science on evolution issues. What I have realized is that both religion and science co-exist. The issues based on evolution are compatible with faith. Several religious denominations agree with the biological evolution that has resulted in the diverse production of living things (McGrath, 2009). I have realized that tenets of faith and evolution are compatible. Theologians and scientists have written concerning their wonder at the universe and its history and the planet life, asserting no conflicts between the evidence for evolution and faith in God.

My preconception about science and faith that has been confirmed is that science and faith are integrated. For instance, changes and motion observed in the world are altered by something else. The infinite series of causality for given events have a first cause (Ferngren, 2017). The cause is God. Therefore, the universe relies on something different for its existence and its continued existence. The other preconception that I had confirmed is that faith and religion are two areas in conflict. The conflict between the two is regarding whether an individual has good reasons for what they do through belief and seeing faith as a virtue or vice. Faith adjudicates truth through authority and scripture in evidence of matters not seen but hoped for, which is virtuous, while science asserts that faith that lacks evidence is a vice.

Responding to the 1 st Student

It is indeed true that faith and religion are two different areas though both coexist in one way or another. An individual’s faith or religion makes it possible to believe in scientific theories and how they are applied in the real world. Notable, law is science-related, and how such law is created is based on religion or faith. Both faith and science are complementary (McGrath, 2009). Science seeks to help comprehend how laws work, and religion offers an experience on how the provider of such laws works. Understanding how science and faith intersect exposes some growth and learning opportunities. It is essential to assert that faith and science are limited by human curiosity to understand how the universe functions. How science and faith work together is also questionable, and one has to be thoughtful concerning such an intersection. In the end, religion and science work together since God developed science.

Responding to the 2 nd Student

Faith and science work together to a given extent. The reason is that there are individuals who believe in faith yet are students in hard sciences fields. Such an instance is an admiration to any other person since these students desire to explore their professional fields. When science and religion integrate, then new insights into the functioning and universe's structure become stereoscopic (McGrath, 2009). The preconceptions on faith and science change based on the anti-intellectualism and the Christ-against-culture ideologies. The opposition towards understanding faith and science is based on particular principles regarding natural philosophy and not opposed to the natural philosophy as an enterprise (Ferngren, 2017). Various aspects of philosophy change how individuals differentiate religion from science. Understanding science and faith is questionable following deep learning that could make one change their mind concerning the two areas. Understanding faith and religion could use cosmology as a critical aspect to be addressed or fail to be used based on different arguments.
