SCF should accept ACL'S request to produce the dome-shaped cases for the modems at $ 100000 extra on top of what is used to manufacture the rectangular-shaped ones. According to Sabin, SCF has been in business with ACL in its modem cases for the last six years. The length of time that the two companies have been in business agreements is a proof of how the companies have been relating and can be considered as one of the reasons that Songsee has to agree with Sabin on the dome-shaped cases project. Additionally, SCF should accept ACL'S request to manufacture the dome-shaped modem cases since they have a high demand in the market. As ACL makes sales in the countries that require underwater modems across the globe, SCF will also have the advantage of making more sales as the modem cases manufacturer (Batkovskiy et al., 2016). Sabin is right that the company will make more sales quickly to break even although it will cost more to have dome-shaped casings manufactured for ACL'S modems. SCF should accept ACL'S request since the company does not have any long-term business partner in the casings. Out of the six production lines of SCF, ACL occupies one of them with the other lines being smaller and taking care of the smaller companies and ventures across the globe. The withdrawal of ACL would, therefore, detriment SCF'S financial performance. One of the risks in ACL'S request on the side of SCF is the danger of loss in the investment (Li & Mei, 2014). SCF has agreed to manufacture the dome-shaped casings at a low amount from ACL.
Negotiation of the deal with ACL will require SCF to have the following skills. The first skill is the art of problem-solving (Menkel-Meadow, 2018). There has arisen the problem where Songsee's team is two weeks behind schedule in the manufacture of the casings that can be used together with the modems that ACL has designed to be placed fifty meters under water. The sudden change that Sabin has introduced is to replace SCF'S rectangular modem cases with dome-shaped ones to better withstand the pressure under the water. The other skill in the negotiation is the active listening (Fischer-Lokou et al., 2016). Songsee, in her talks with Sabin, has to practice active listening while asking the relevant questions to get the details of the required modems correctly. To develop a positive, long-range relationship between SCF and ACL, timekeeping has to be observed. Despite being behind schedule for two weeks, Songsee feels that the project involving the casing manufacture is going on smoothly. The company has to keep time to ensure that the relationship between the two companies is not strained. The other way of enhancing the links is to have an open mind (Tajeddini, Elg & Ghauri, 2015). Sabin's way of thinking may ruin the relationship that SCF and ACL have enjoyed in the last more than half a decade. He may discourage SCF from manufacturing other casings for ACL as the costs of doing so fluctuate and disadvantage SCF.

Some of the project elements in the manufacture of the dome-shaped modem casings can be outsourced. It is ethical to outsource the components regardless of the project is already subcontracted. Either SCF may outsource materials or people to enable it to handle the project effectively and in good time (MacKerron et al., 2015). However, the addition of other people to the project may spark controversy as the already existing workers in the company feel as if the company's management underrates them. Nonetheless, the current employees at SCF may not have the necessary know-how to design and manufacture the dome-shaped casings for the ACL'S modems unlike the rectangular ones (MacKerron et al., 2015). Such a mentality neutralizes the feelings of ethical breaching against the employees working at SCF now. The other option that would suit the change in the manufacture of the modem casing is to train a section of workers already working at SCF in the design and the manufacture of the dome-shaped casings (MacKerron et al., 2015). The significant advantage associated with the option is that the workers will retain the know-how in the manufacture of the casings even after the project involving ACL is done. The major disadvantage of the option is that it will take more time to train the individuals in the design and manufacture of the casings. The time is not present, as ACL needs to have the dome-shaped modem casings in good time to send them to the target markets worldwide.
If there were to be another solution in the manufacture of the modem casings in one of the production lines at SCF, the following items would be included. One of the aspects is the organizational overview (da Silva, Chituc & Grefen, 2017). The request for proposals (RFP) of SCF will indicate the mission and the vision statements of the company to ensure that the interested companies have an idea of what SCF needs in the bid. The other item is the project goals (da Silva, Chituc & Grefen, 2017). The goals of the project will be the guide when it comes to the request for proposals. The bidding company will ensure that they meet the goals of the modem casing project that SCF will put in place. The other item in the RFP will be the project deliverables and qualifications (Taylor, 2018). The deliverables that will be expected in the project at SCF will be stated. The bidding company will ensure that its deliverables are per those of SCF in its modem casing manufacturing program. The requirements of the project will be the other crucial element that will be on the RFP in the case of SCF (Taylor, 2018). The requirements of the project will range from the monetary resources to the human resource input required in the project.
