The selected psychologists are Sigmund Freud. Sigmund Freud was instrumental in psychology. He was the founder of approaches such as the psychodynamic and psychoanalysis approaches. These approaches are used in psychology to treat patients who have psychological disorders. The psychoanalysis approach had an emphasis on the influence that the unconscious human mind had on the behavior of an individual. In such an aspect, Freud shared the belief that the human mind was made up of three elements, which are the superego, the id, and ego elements (O’Brien, 2019). Many of the theories and observations made by Freud in the psychology environment were dependent on conducting case studies and having views in the clinical cases (Haggbloom, Warnick, Warnick, Jones, Yarbrough, Russell & Monte, 2002). Therefore, the findings by Freud were difficult to generalize and link them to larger populations. Regardless, the psychology theories by Freud changed the thinking of humans in society while also altered the behavior of individuals. To date, these theories have contributed to significant impacts on cultures as well as psychology.

One of the articles authored by Freud is the Psychopathology of Everyday Life. The findings of the research were interesting as Freud found out that a narrow line existed between an average and neurotic person. Further, the results indicated that the psychopathological mechanisms that were evident in psychoses were exhibited in lesser degrees when healthy persons were identified (Leuzinger-Bohleber & Plänkers, 2019). It is through such observations that there were studies of further interactions in daily human life. The research offered differences in psychological functioning because there was a difference in what neurotic people faced and the observations in healthy people (Freud, 1989). There should be an elimination of stressors in the environment that can affect the human mind to make them developmental challenges and disorders. Regular people who have no stressors live a healthy life. However, with psychopathological methods being present, healthy people can change to neurotic individuals hence affecting their mental health.
