A theory is a general statement formulated concerning the day to day world, which can be supported by evidence gathered and accurately prepared through a scientific method. Research has argued that theories are the overall explanation or manifestation of the society. Theories expound on the causes of problems arising in the society, and thereby the society is not only able to understand reasons for a social issue but also identify the correct method to use in addressing them. Understanding the behavior of man is very important in the society, a better understanding of the society gives man a better perception in understanding human behavior patterns. A theory should be able to prove in a certain way that describes the cause of a particular phenomenon. For instance the Social Learning theory suggests that, a person is more likely to conduct a mode of behavior that has been learned in the society.

The learning theory suggests that human behavior is discovered and adopted through the process of interaction in the community. The theory argues that action may be indicated as negative or positive, depending on the social behavior of the individual. The psychodynamic theory explains that internal processes such as needs, drives and emotions influence the patterns of human behavior. Sigmund Freud is described to have developed the methods that created the basis of the psychodynamic approach to modern psychology. In his works, Freud argued that human behavior is highly motivated by the internal drives possessed by a person (Miller, 2011, p. 17). The scholar went further to define unconscious as well as a conscious activity to be an influencing factor towards human behavior.

The theory has gone further to suggest that early childhood experiences play a significant role in the future behavior patterns of an individual. The theory states that, the initial years of a person may dictate negative or positive behavior in the adult years. It is for this reason that children should be brought up in a moral society. The method identifies human emotions as central in the life of an individual; a person is likely to behave in a particular manner due to an early childhood experience. On the other hand, the Conflict theory focuses on the attention drawn to conflict, dominance, and oppression in the society.

In his works, Karl Max argues that, the society is in a state of conflict as a result of the limited volumes of resources, there are many wants which the society is struggling to satisfy them with limited resources (McLeod, 2011, p. 21). The psychologist explains that social order does not rely on consensus and conformity but rather on domination and power. In his theory, Karl Max develops an approach to the mode of behavior portrayed in the society by analyzing social order and the causes of social order. The theory argues that the people holding wealth and power will not be ready to let go and thus hang on to it, thereby oppressing the poor. The method has been used to explain significant social phenomena such as discrimination and democracy. This can be demonstrated clearly in most of the developing nations where the leaders amend their constitution to enable them rule for more years than expected. While in power the citizens languish in poverty due to poor governance and immense corruption.

Principles provide a scientific method of accurately analyzing and assessing a social event. Over the decade's scholars have attempted to use theoretical frameworks in understanding the behavior of individuals in the social life (Miller, 2011, p. 28) . Example the psychodynamic theory focuses on how the internal drives of a person dictate behavior. The argument also goes further to link the behavior of a person to the early childhood experiences. An individual’s internal drives comprise of feelings and activity as directed by the mind. Thereby an individual exhibiting a particular mode of behavior can be attributed to having experienced an early childhood experience resulting in the action. Freud suggested that the person may be overwhelmed by internal or external factors. This would explain an individual portraying violent behavior due to abuse.

Theories link behavioral problems and their causes in the society. Through the social practice theories, the society can curb and understand human behavior. Identifying an individual’s drives allows one to formulate reason behind the mode of action conducted. As a psychologist understanding, the human minds create a platform for better human understanding (McLeod, 2011, p. 45) . Through the psychodynamic theory, the society can prevent negative behavior and foster good and positive behavior that would ensure continuity of the community. Research has shown that adverse health is significant as a result of bad eating habits.

An individual’s diet is highly influenced by early childhood years. Using this approach, the society can address bad food as a method of improving the health of the community. Statistics argue that one out of every ten people practice safe and healthy diet, this would coincide with one of every five that has a healthy way of life. The psychodynamic theory has helped to foster an intervention regarding the health of the society (McLeod, 2011). With a focus on the early experiences, the organization has attempted to introduce better eating habits during the early and adolescent age. Healthy eating habits during the early age will foster good eating habits in the future. This will improve eating habits in the society, thus improving the health status of the society which will result to good health life and avoidance of diet related illnesses and lifestyle diseases.

The society if dynamic, the society changes in regards to human behavior, culture and way of living. To understand and address social problems, the society must be able to comprehend itself. Understanding theoretical frameworks develops a scientific approach to understanding the cause human behavior and what influences it (Miller, 2011, p. 44). As a strategy understanding, human behavior facilitates the social worker to be able to relate to every individual in the society. Moreover, the social worker is able to understand social problems and develop interventions to address them.
