Several systems influence the activities of social works. One of the outstanding systems is the family unit. A family unit falls under the micro-system, which is defined as a system of working directly with individuals or a family to carry out social work activities. It also directly affects how a social worker may carry out their activities in a social set up. Micro-level social work is the most common practice, especially among those providing therapy services to clients or families.
Working with a family involves meeting individuals, small groups, or families to help people manage their emotional, individual, and family problems. Individuals within a social system have a powerful effect on the behavior of a person (Begun. 2019). It implies that a social worker should exploit the system when helping someone in need. For example, a social worker dealing with drug abuse problems can offer counseling or rehabilitation services to clients while monitoring the situation constantly using feedback from the family members of the society at large. A society can change a grown-up person, and it can also influence positive lessons into young people in many ways, such as using reinforcement or punishment (Begun, 2019).

A social system also influences the physical environment within which someone lives. For example, in drug abuse, the availability of substances people are abusing is within the physical environment. In other words, the physical environment influences exposure to certain behaviors and things that can have a negative or positive influence on life. Therefore, the knowledge of the physical environment is important for a social worker because he or she will have the right skills to help in families and individuals (Shulman, 2012). The social location is also important in understanding certain behaviors in social works. Social location is the combination of factors such as race, gender, and religion, which can help explain why people in a given place behave in a given manner. As for my life, social location impacts by the belief system and social class identity.
