I strongly agree with the research by my colleague on both the characteristics of socialism. Capitalism is personal-self-interest that motivates business activities, requires that the majority of the economic productions be privately owned and requires that the financial planning should not be concentrated in the government but rather be decentralized by competition (Sheremeta, 2017). On the other hand, socialism requires that economic plan should be done through government policies and not a race, requires that most of the industrial production should be government owned rather that individual owned, and community interests should be an inspiration for business activities and not self-interest. The two are, therefore, different, and I strongly agree with the differences. According to Kotz (2018), the main difference between capitalism and socialism is that socialism promotes equality and fairness, while capitalism promotes innovation and individual goals.
Additionally, it is true that many las such as employee subcontractor rules, surge pricing, and taxation without representation influence Uber's operation. According to Kolodko (2018), both socialism and capitalism significantly influence Uber's operational model since Uber works as a networking system that links different people working together into a common goal of making money by serving the community for all worker involved (Li, 2018). Finally, I agree that utilitarianism is one of the moral positions regarding Uber that states that consequences are the ones that matter and not actions and that the moral choice of an effort will lead to the best possible outcome for the most people. Therefore, consequences should be evaluated on how they affect everyone.
