The major sources of power and the corresponding influence available will include the legitimate power which arises from one being in the team leadership position. This form of power will enable me to make changes in the way I assign duties to my team. With the skills and knowledge in this field, I will exercise expert power. This will enhance problem-solving, making excellent ideas and opinions which will influence teams’ actions. Given that I possess a good interpersonal relationship with my fellow teammates, I will be able to earn respect, admiration, and trust through referent form of power. The teams’ discipline is crucial for their growth. Coercive power will enhance changes in rational judgment, punishment, and sanction of members in case of misconduct. The teams’ motivation through incentives, salary boost, and promotions will be influenced by reward power.
The most successful form of power would be legitimate power. It’s because it gives a chance to information and resources, control use of resources and overrides other decisions. It also gives me a chance to exercise other forms of power. The consequences from this form of power might be positive and negative. The positive aspects would be a good exercise of the power to promote the growth of the team regarding interpersonal relationships, skills and knowledge base. Negative consequences would arise from the abuse of power resulting to disrespectful team members, low motivation, and poor performance.

Conflict resolution within the team will be best handled through proper identification of the conflict, proper communication among the team members and engaging everyone in the team. The creation of good working environment and proper sharing of responsibilities would minimize the occurrence of conflicts.
