Autism spectrum disorder ( ASD ) is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. In most situations, children with this condition can be intelligent at their age. They require therapists to assess and evaluate them and to assist them or some form of treatment in improving their situations. Tests and assessments of individuals with ASD are different depending on one’s symptoms

The form of ASD that children display vary; hence a need for a diagnosis to determine the method of assessment that works best for them. One of the ways of assessing the children is testing their emotions and how they react to situations. Furthermore, it is essential to analyze their problem-solving and motor skills to determine their capability ("Inside an Autism Assessment", 2014). In most cases, autistic children develop a clapping behavior, known as stimming, which enables them to self-regulate and organize. The level of autism among children differs; thus there is a need to focus on their abilities as well as disabilities to determine how they learn ("Assessment and Intervention of Autism Spectrum Disorders", 2013). Pervasive development disorders in ASD include reciprocal social interaction, communication, and restricted and pervasive social behavior.

A comprehensive model assessment for autism disorder syndrome is essential in evaluating those with the disorder. These include developing a multi-disciplinary team such as those including therapists and psychologists, assessing multiple areas of functioning, and collecting information across a variety of settings from those around them (Tsatsanis, 2010). One way is to question their parents and family members, as well as the autistic children. Furthermore, there is a need for positive reinforcement where a therapist tests their abilities depending on the presence of a reward. Therefore, different approaches of assessing individuals with ASD exist and the best method depends on the diagnosis of the patient.

Assessment of individuals with ASD are important for various reasons. One is that it enables the therapist to determine the nature of the problem that an individual has. As a result, it helps to determine the type of treatment or therapy available to them. Secondly, the test is essential for children because it helps to develop skills needed to ensure that the children reach their full potential. The process is essential because it ensures that the kids with the condition learn the skills earlier when the brain is more plastic. Additionally, it ensures that the effect is more comprehensive and permanent. Thus, it is essential to assess those with ASD to determine the best type of treatment for them and the skills they require to develop at an earlier stage for better impact.

In conclusion, there is no single way to assess and test individuals with the autism spectrum disorder. The condition affects children differently and inhibits various functions of the body like communication and behavior. A comprehensive assessment model is necessary to help in assessing and evaluating autistic cases. In this case, there is no best way to test and evaluate those with ASD because the method of evaluation depends on the diagnosis.
