Memo

To: Principal

From: Stakeholders

Date: 5/7/2021

Subject: Agricultural Science Program

As noted in the letter of concern written by the superintendent, some issues related to the Agricultural science program in the school. Due to that, the school management has developed a new system of gathering, evaluating, and reporting data to the appropriate stakeholders concerning the measurement of continuous, sustainable improvement in the achievement of students as well as adhering to the legal, ethical, and equity issues. The approach is intended to help the stakeholders in decision-making towards the explicit goals. Planning is also important as it focuses on the results that matter. Developing the new system of gathering, evaluating, and reporting data to the stakeholders will encourage the stakeholder’s participation and ownership of the system. The system will reflectively help in evaluating the improvement of the program and also communicate the compliance with the rights, laws, policies, and regulations that help promote the sustainable success of the students. That will also avoid the previously reported issues of harassment of the students.

There was a day that a student was harassed by a fellow student in school whereby a student was reported to repeatedly send sexually-oriented jokes to his fellow even after he was asked to stop the jokes. That made the recipient avoid the sender within the campus and in the hall of residence in which they both lived. The students will also be included in the strategy by teaching them values and acceptable behaviors to their peers.

There is a need to have student leadership that is focused on avoiding and eradicating ethical and equity breeches among students while on the campus. The students’ leadership will be given the responsibility to help in maximizing the application of fair and equitable practices among their fellow students. Besides, various resources will help in monitoring sustained improvements and also the adherence of the laws, policies, and regulations within the campus. Some of the resources that are needed to help in this strategy are students’ suggestion boxes installed within each of the departments in the school.

Future resources will have a great impact on the well-being of the students. There will be a growth and development of the program that will help in improving the students’ performance and through sustainable wellbeing and also helping the students to adhere to the legal, ethical, and equitable needs. Furthermore, the students will also be able to follow the required school regulations, policies, and laws that are meant for their wellbeing and improving their sustainable achievement.

Development of School’s anti-harassment policy

A good approach for the elimination of harassment is including the development and dissemination of strongly written policies that are targeting the prohibition of harassment. The policies need to take into account the essential factors that are relevant to determining if unlawful harassment has taken place and needs to be tailored to the requirements of the specific school ( Joseph, 2015) . The policy needs to include the following:

State the commitment of the school to eliminate harassment.

Defines all the harassment types that have been covered by the policy including harassment based on race, color, nation, religion, sexual orientation, disability, sex, and ethnicity.

It includes examples of the types of harassing behaviors.

Activities and sites identification in which the prohibited habits may take place.

Includes the standards to determine if a hostile environment is existing.

Identifies the means that the school will be used to investigate the harassment incident.

Requires the school staff to report harassment concerning which they became aware.

Includes a specific procedure for addressing the formal complaints of discrimination.

A district will decide the adoption of one policy covering all the types of unlawful harassment or a separate policy that is covering the various harassment bases.

Policy development process

The anti-harassment policy development process may be used for educating all the school community members concerning harassment and the tools that can be used for response. The steps below can help in demonstrating that the school and district is committed to various enforcement policy:

Seek for the participation of all individual categories that the policy affect in the process of development.

Ensure that all people who are designed to develop the level of policy with enough time, training, and also access to the expertise to design a program of high quality.

Planning a series of activities for the implementation of the district’s policy including training.

Providing a review and updates of the district’s policy on the regular basis.

Coordinating the anti-harassment policy of the school with other different school policies and procedures such as students’ code of conduct, personnel rules, and other non-discrimination policies that are affecting school employers and students.

Activity reflection

How does this response make sense?

The response is making a lot of sense as a hypothetical principle at a campus. It gives the technique of handling any issues that can be raised by the superintendent in school. Besides, it gives insights into how to jointly handle raised issues with the school stakeholders.

Describe how the response fits with the established criteria and models the elements found in the building blocks?

The response fits well with the established criteria of improving the stakeholder program within schools. Therefore, the response addresses the new system of gathering evaluating, and also reporting the data to the stakeholders for the improvement of students’ achievements. It also follows the four elements that are helpful for the eradication of student sexual harassment in school.

What issues did the response address?

The response addressed the issues of sexual harassment in school. There have been various issues of sexual harassment in school whereby a student often sends sexually-oriented jokes to a fellow student. That is due to discrimination based on sexual orientation.

In what other way could this issue be addressed and prove equally or more successful?

The issue can be addressed by carefully listening to the reported cases of sexual harassment in school. It is also important to create systems that are allowing the students to report the incidents of sexual harassment anonymously (Michigan State University, 2021) . Furthermore, those who have been held account reported for sexual harassment in schools need to be held accountable.
