Millennials, also called Generation Y, refers to the cohort group that follows Generation X and precedes Generation Z. The ages of Generation Y lie between years the 1990s to early 2000s. Most millennials are children of baby boomers and also Generation X, and can often be parents of Generation Alpha. The generation is fundamentally described by increased usage and familiarity with the internet, social media platforms, and mobile devices.
The strengths of millennials include; they have a lot of positive affectionate and are highly voiced. They also believe in activism and are everyday changemakers. Weaknesses of Generation Y include; they are less inclined to welcoming change and have a strong preference for structure and discipline ( Sinek, 2020 ). They are less inclined to engage in activities that require long working hours. Lastly, Generation X is not outspoken in case of a disagreement with the management team. Criticism against millennials has been rising in recent years. People constantly criticize millennials; they are not predictable; their dependence cannot be considerably relied on. Some millennials are highly affected by social media platforms; thus can not be active for longer hours.

Out of the increasing criticism against millennials, stereotypes have emerged from all dimensions. According to Sinek (2020), common stereotypes concerning millennials include; setting the bar too high because of a sense of entitlement. This is a common stereotype that is commonly spread at most workplaces. Another stereotype is that millennials are quite lazy at work. This stereotype has resulted from the fact that millennials are quite addicted to social media platforms' daily use. Lastly, millennials' common stereotype is that they work to live and not live to work ( Pyöriä et al., 2017 ). Millennials are active when it comes to matters of dealing with little duties that do not require long hours.
However, despite the high criticism against millennials, I am quite encouraged to work with them due to some factors. For example, millennials who are active and outspoken intrigue me to interact with them and exchange ideas. Interacting with them at a personal level will increase the efficiency of addressing issues that affect them. Lessons we could learn from millennials include; We should be outspoken. Education is not only acquired from the classroom setting but also from the environment that surrounds us. Lastly, we also learn that one should create a career based on personal interest rather than social influence.
