Students’ services entails running programs that support students both personally and academically, within and outside an institution. Among the most popular services that students need in any institutions include support in academic activities such as fieldwork, organization of co-curricular activities and good representation in leadership. Even though some of these activities are provided by most institutions, a good organization ensures that each student is able to get all the services they need, when then need them ( Nicholls, 2014) . The Student Affairs Department is entrusted with ensuring that students are at their best position to study an explore their talents through co-curricular activities. In order to achieve this mandate, the body receives financial resources from the respective institution for organizing new activities in addition to supporting the existing ones. When the student services are managed properly, the institution’s performance in both academic and curricular activities is likely to improve ( Paul & Elder, 2013) .
Running of student services in an institution requires someone who understands the challenges and needs of the students. The services can either be run by the students themselves or the institution’s staff. The student activities can best be organized by the students. the students are in a good position to understand the existing challenges. Organizing the student population requires an understanding of the diversity among the student population and the ability to come up with the most appropriate solutions to the existing challenges ( Moon, 2013). The students are in a good position to handle their services since it is easier for them to interact at any time. The ideas that are born out of these interactions are based on first-hand information about what the students need.
