In one of my previous semesters, there was a class that required me to buy books. However, due to financial difficulties, I found it impossible to access the books, making my progress in the class difficult. At one moment, our professor gave an assignment that required us to utilized one of those books. Thus, since I did not have access to those resources, completing the assignment became hectic. To overcome the stressful situation, I had to rely on my support network, which is made up of my family, my friends, my instructor, and advisors. My family and my friends were instrumental in ensuring that I get the financial support to buy the books. My instructor, on the other hand, along with some of my friends, who were also my classmate, helped me to catch up in the class and complete the assignment. The school support system, through advisors, was key in ensuring that I get the emotional support required to overcome the stressful situation.
Having a student support network is vital in ensuring academic success. A support system helps a student to handle difficult situations (Almeida et al., 2018). Since obstacles are inevitable during a student’s academic journey, it is vital to have a support system that helps the students keep his or her goals in perspective. Supportive friends, family, instructors, and classmates can celebrate the student’s success and help him or her learn from the stressing situation- they help the student remained determined and have a positive attitude (Almeida et al., 2018). A support system can also help a student find the required resources to achieve academic success. Professors and instructors are valuable resources for student’s success; they can offer academic and career advices, and help a student develop their professional network. The final benefit of a support system is that it helps a student to remain motivated throughout their academic journey (Almeida et al., 2018). Having a good relationship with classmates and instructors helps a student remain engaged in the coursework and remain motivated to succeed.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
To effectively handle these stressful situations, students should have a plan to effectively utilize their support system. Having a plan in place ensure that one is always prepared in the event a stressful situation comes up (Almeida et al., 2018). Therefore, joining a study group, having a good relationship with instructors, and involving families and friends in the academic process will ensure that a student gets immediate support in case of a stressful situation.
