Elements of the good supervisory contract
The mutual agreement element introduces the people that are willing to enter into a contract. This helps in identifying the specific people that will be bound by the agreement. The component of the role of supervision agreement serves to form the basis upon which the contract is made. The effective date affirms the exact day the contract was made, and this will help in determining the wages. The frequency of meetings enables the parties to an agreement to be aware of the number of sessions to attend. This serves as a reminder to them not to miss any of the meetings as agreed upon. The duration element stipulates the period in which the organization the contract will last. This helps the organization to determine the wages that will be entitled to parties of the agreement. The fees element assists the supervisor to know the payment package that the supervisee will receive. This will enable the organization to set aside the wages to be paid to the supervisee. The type of supervision agreement segment describes the kind of contract that the parties are entering into. This helps them identify benefits that are associated with the kind of agreement they choose.

The goals and objectives element outline the expectations of the supervisor from the supervisee during the contract. This will provide the basis upon which the effectiveness of the contract will be measured. The content element outlines how parties to a contract should conduct themselves during the execution of the contract. This will ensure that both parties adhere to the organization's rules and professional ethics in their routine activities. The rights and responsibilities aspect describes the privileges entitled to the parties and the tasks they must accomplish. This builds a conducive working environment for both parties and depicts the activities that each party must perform per the contract. The finances element explains the hourly charges that accumulate the total package that the supervisee should receive. This element also contains the declaration part where the parties affirm their commitment to actualize the contract.
Items to be addressed in the first supervision meeting
During the first supervision meeting, the items that should be discussed include; performance expectations, how supervision should proceed, description of activities, description of competency tests, and reviewing the contractual agreement. The performance expectations will determine the success of the organization. The supervisee is supposed to deliver measurable results by the end of the contract. This will ensure that the supervisee accomplishes the duties, demonstrates high professional ethics and values, and has a positive impact on the organization. The procedures on how supervision should proceed are discussed. This item will discuss the various ways on how supervisors should direct the supervisees. This ensures that the organization is able to develop and monitor a mutual relationship between these parties to attain quality results. A description of activities is another essential item in the first meeting. It helps the supervisor in identifying and explaining the responsibilities that will be assigned to the supervisee. This creates awareness to the supervisees what is required of them and provides the foundation upon which their performance will be measured.
Description of competency tests is another item that gives the supervisor a chance to evaluate the skills supervisee. A supervisor prefers assigning duties to employees that match their capabilities, as this enhances maximum productivity. This item depicts the various methods that the supervisor will employ in identifying the skills of the employee. To realize the maximum potential of the supervisees, the supervisor will have to assign them tasks that match their skills and abilities. Reviewing contractual agreement is the last item to be addressed in the first meeting. This allows the supervisor to have a second taught about the contract. This allows various changes to be made on the deal to benefit both parties. Such changes might include the terms and conditions, responsibilities, payment, among others.
Items to be discussed in the second supervision meeting
During the second supervision meeting, the items to be addressed will include; assessment of initial skills, reviewing written materials, and schedule observation. Assessment of initials skills is where the supervisor evaluates the progress of the supervisee. This helps the supervisor ascertain whether the supervisee has acquired new skills or has improved on the first ones. After the assessment, the supervisor might play a supportive role to the supervisee by providing coaching and mentoring services to the supervisee. Reviewing written materials by the supervisor is essential. According to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (2012), the written materials to be considered include written plans, datasheets, and reports. This will assist the supervisor in gauging the ways the supervisee will accomplish tasks, save tasks performed, and providing feedback. This will provide a reliable basis to judge the supervisee. Schedule observation, as an item of second supervision meeting, will entail the supervisor preparing a form that describes the conduct of the supervisee and a measure of performance. This will enable the supervisor to make proper judgments and give suitable recommendations on the supervisee.
Pitfalls from my previous supervision experiences
There are several pitfalls or challenges that I encountered from my past supervision experiences. The first challenge was dealing with unreproductive employees in the organization. As a supervisor, I had to lead my group and deliver measurable results. However, some of my group members were lazy and others lacked the appropriate skills to accomplish the tasks. I had to fire the lazy workers and train dedicated employees to acquire skills that improved work performance. Second, supervision entailed a lot of paperwork. Most of the activities that I did as a supervisor had to be put down on paper. This proved to be tiresome and boring besides being time-consuming. I purchased a laptop on which I stored all the relevant information about my supervision activities. Another challenge I faced is intense training. The world is highly dynamic, and people are coming up with unique ways on how to get work done. I had to occasionally train my employees on every emerging concept in the beverage production sector. I used to invite production experts that will share the new ideas with my employees on my behalf.
