Industrial agriculture is the primary food production system in Canada which is different from the farming approach adopted in developing countries. In Canada, farming is characterized by large-scale monoculture and substantial use of fertilizers and pesticides. Agriculture in Canada is more defined by large-scale farms, which are rapidly declined in size and have integrated more direct production and marketing associations with processors using vertical integration. The other defining factor of industrialized farming in Canada is the division of labor. One will find that farm owner, managers, and workers have clearly defined roles. Compared with subsistence farming, farming in Canada is heavily mechanized, while the latter is majorly done by hand or with simple tools ( Foley, 2013 ). Also, in countries that practice subsistence farming, the primary goal is to feed their families. Technology is a massive player among Canadian farmers, which is the main underlying factor for non-household farming. Undeniably, agriculture has a significant impact on natural resources and the environment. From a sustainable point of view, agriculture should protect the environment while also expanding its natural resource base, for example, by maintaining and improving soil fertility. Canada is among the leading countries that practice sustainable crop production, as evidenced by the fact that the country can grow quality food sustainably and in large volumes. I believe that planet Earth cannot feed its whole population if farming practices do not improve ( Brown, 2016 ). This is because the global population is growing exponentially, while the middle class is expanding faster. Due to this, I believe that there are mounting concerns about how agriculture impacts the global environment and the associated climate change. I think that 2030 goals are attainable if the human population understands the link between farming and nature. Farmers worldwide should increase their efforts to improve their lands while also working to maximize their output. However, for countries with weaker economies, it is difficult to implement sustainable farming, but with the help of advanced countries such as Canada, the US, and Israel, 2030 goals can be achieved.
