Social enterprise that involves the use of community-based resources requires creative leadership for it to be effectively sustained and lead to the projected outcomes. Leadership creativity is crucial when it comes to matters regarding marketing and fundraising as some of the critical stages in the establishment of the social enterprise. For “Sustainable Water” which is a social enterprise aimed at establishment of a water purification facility to benefit the community, a large proportion of the resources should come from the community through fundraising. However, this cannot be possible without appropriate market and campaign strategies to demonstrate the efficacy of the social enterprise ( Yunus, 2017 ). It is on this account that this plan addresses the role of leadership creativity in linking social value impact of the water purification social enterprise with marketing and fundraising to achieve its sustainability and ultimately its long-term goals.

Leadership Creativity

Leadership creativity refers to the extent to which members of the social enterprise management team are creative and able to get through obstacles that are likely to confront the process of enterprise implementation. Creative leadership manifests skills such as innovativeness, emotional intelligence, time consciousness, cost leadership, team building and efficient communication skills among others ( Martiskainen, 2017). A combination of these skills in a creative way increases chances of social enterprise success. Specifically for the project that entails the establishment of a water purification facility, the leadership has to demonstrate leadership creativity through efficient communication and networking efforts to reach all the community members and the potential donors respectively. This would enable community members to understand the need for the social enterprise in the context of their own responsibility and the role they have to play right from the stage of initiation all the way to the sustainability. Other potential sources of financial and resource support would be better able to understand the social enterprise in the context of elimination of challenges that confront the community to reduce community vulnerability to water-borne and other health –related diseases and infection.

Social Value Impact

Social value refers to a way of thinking on how to allocate and use scarce resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the social enterprise. It involves focusing on the value that goes beyond the price value of individual aspects of the enterprise and instead paying attention to its collective impact to the community in general ( Epstein, 2018 ). The leadership of a social enterprise is very crucial when it comes to perceiving the social enterprise as constituting benefits to the entire community rather than individuals. It is only when the leadership can be able to regard water purification facility as constituting positive impacts to all the stakeholders and the community at large rather than to the individuals that the enterprise can be successfully be initiated and be carried on to the stage of completion and subsequent sustainability.

In order for the community and the stakeholders to realize that the overall impact of the project is positive, it requires effective use of communication skills by the leaders of the social enterprise to communicate the need for the enterprise with the ultimate aim of mobilizing the scarce resources for effective implementation and sustainability of the enterprise. In so doing, there is need to dwell on the social value impact of the enterprise. Upon establishment of a water purification facility, the social value impact would be reduction in the prevalence and adversity of water-borne and other health-related diseases and infections.

Marketing and Fundraisingh

Marketing and fundraising constitute crucial undertakings aimed at mobilizing required resources for the social enterprise establishment. The aim of marketing and fundraising is to get customers or consumers of the products to like it ( Belleflamme, Omrani & Peitz, 2015) . Since the consumers of the purified water are also expected to ensure its sustainability, it is only by making the product (purified water) appealing to them (and their needs) through campaign strategies that they can come together with their resources and openly support its establishment. The leadership is responsible of marketing the enterprise by combining their skills of communication, creativity, and emotional leadership to make the products of a water purification facility (which is improved health) appealing to the members of the community for the enterprise to benefit from the input of the resources within the community. It is therefore through the process of marketing that fundraising efforts are likely to succeed.

Multipronged Marketing and Fundraising Campaign

Marketing and campaign strategies to establish a water purification facility should begin with development of marketing objectives. The objective of this marketing and fundraising campaign is to mobilize community resources for effective implementation of this social enterprise. The budget of the enterprise is approximately $5000. The enterprise is projected to be completed within one year, after which the community will be in charge of sustaining the enterprise.

Major avenues of reaching members of the community to raise funds to establish “Sustainable Water” enterprise will be through meeting, seminars and workshops which will often be attended by all the stakeholders including representatives from the community. Social media and mass media will also be utilized as avenues of reaching members of the community to support the social enterprise.

Conclusion

This marketing and fundraising section of the plan for the social enterprise “Sustainable Water” has elaborated on the relationship between leadership creativity, social value impact, and marketing and fundraising aspects. Reference to these aspects, a multi-pronged marketing and fundraising campaign has been offered to elaborate on how “Sustainable Water” as a social enterprise in question will benefit from a combination of leadership approaches and skills to deliver a well planned campaign by appealing to the community members on the Social Value Impact of the enterprise.
