The rush for wealth was the primary cause of the 19th-century imperialism. Consequently, the superior developed nations invaded developing nations whose inhabitants were poor and illiterate. Thus, the western nations took advantage of the situation enslaving the poor populace and taking over leadership. These colonies were rich with natural and other useful resources, which the new masters exploited with zeal. The competition for a portion of this immense amount of unexploited resource resulted in disagreement amongst the western nations. The outbreak of World War I (WW1) in 1914 can, therefore, be attributed to economic rivalry amongst these nations. Likewise, the imperialist culture and attitude played a significant role. Due to technological advancement, the manufacture of weapons became easier, fuelling the war further. Overall, the outbreak of WW1 was as a result of imperialism, diplomacy, and the ‘Concert of Europe'.

On 28th June 1919 shortly after the end of WW1, the Treaty of Versailles was signed. This treaty had various terms. First, it required the disarmament Germany and reduction of its army to about 100,000 men. Likewise, it was barred from having tanks, submarines and military aircraft. Further, Germany was forced to take responsibility for the losses and damage it had caused, together with its allies. It was therefore required to pay for the damage. Lastly, new territories were established and given freedom. The treaty was aimed at creating peace and harmony between Germany and Allied Powers. However, it can be argued that this agreement played a significant role in the outbreak of World War II (WW2). After signing the treaty, the vulnerability of Germany increased. It is this development that contributed to the rise of Hitler and the fascist party leadership. Nevertheless, there were major similarity and differences between the disputes in WWI and WWII. One of the similarities was that in both, Germany was the main enemy, fighting against the Allied forces. On the other hand, the Allied forces comprised of various European countries. The use of trench and chemical warfare made a significant difference between WWI and WWII.

The Weimer Republic was different from the previous social system and government in Germany. This is because its constitution eliminated Monarchy and introduced a democratic system of governance. In this new regime, the citizens could elect the president for a term of seven years. The president appointed a chancellor to lead ministries from within the Reichstag. Further, anyone who was 20 years old could vote. However, the system was established at a time of unrest, while powerful people under Kaiser were still in power and held powerful positions in the incumbent government. Consequently, these people significantly influenced the new system reducing its impact. The constitution had a bill right which gave citizens the power to express their grievances freely. However, the new constitution had its weaknesses. For instance, Article 48 of the Constitution gave the president authority to make decisions without consulting other leaders in case of emergency. Secondly, Members of Parliament could only be elected by the president. Further, the army was not in full control of the government. Consequently, the people hated the government for signing the treaty that oppressed them. These weaknesses and the peoples’ resentment of the Weimer Republic contributed significantly to the WWII.

The first Opium was fought in 1839-1842 involving China and Britain while the second ran from 1856-1860. The second Opium War was also referred to as Anglo-French and was fought by Britain and France against China. While leading China’s Republican Revolution, Sun Yat-sen motivated and organised the people to overthrow Manchu dynasty in 1911. In 1916, after Yuan Shikai died, Kuomintang retreated paving the way for the growth and dominance of communists in China. The main reason for the natural alliance between the Soviet Union and MaoTse-Tung's movement was the need to finance the Red Army. This army was required to acquire freedom from Kuomintang.
