Nonverbal communication is the nonlinguistic transmission of information that can be through tough gestures, proximity, dress and appearance, tone and volume of voice, facial expression, and eye contact or movement. Nonverbal communication can reveal unspoken emotions as well as be misleading when not adequately interpreted. This type of communication can be manipulated to convey a message that is not true, such as a person maintaining a calm face while they are angry or disapproving of an issue. Analysis of nonverbal communication in images is entirely based on an individual perception of the image that might not be true because one is not a participant of the image.

The male standing demonstrates authoritative gestures to those seated, and they are both giving him an audience. There is the use of kinesics, where the person conveying the message is using gestures to increase the clarity of the information. Appearance is another code used in the image, the images have official clothing, and thus they are all in an office or work environment where people of different personalities are brought together (Sundaram & Webster, 2000). The message being conveyed has got the attention of the other people in the image who has kept eye contact to the person speaking. The change in the facial expression of the person standing would reduce the authoritative perspective conveyed by the image.

Two are discussing the content of a booklet held by one of them while one of them is gazing or lost in her own thoughts. Proximity is also a nonverbal code that is present in the image presented. The distance between the people in the images demonstrates a social relationship because they are close to each other, thus sharing a social space. This is an indication that the participants have a shared interest or goal; either they work for the same organization, or they study together. The message conveyed makes the other lady to be left out of the conversation. The use of touch (kinesics) can help get her attention so that she participates in the discussion (Antes, 1996).

In image three are all studying or discussing; two are discussing while one is trying to comprehend or reflect on what she has read or is overwhelmed with the issue being discussed. Kinesics is a nonverbal code used in the image; the gestures employed is essential in the decoding of the messages being sent across (Antes, 1996). The message appears to de draining to all of them, and they appear to be exhausted concerning the issue. Maintaining eye contact to the individual speaking is essential to ensure they all understand each other and take note of the body language that might be used.

Image 4 demonstrates disagreement and anger towards the team leader standing. Everyone seems speaking and thus creating a chaotic environment. They are all using gestures in combination with facial expressions. The message might have been negatively received by the other people in the image on which they are protesting against it. The use of a calmer facial expression and silence from the other people in the image would have allowed effective communication.

The lady is frustrated because the other people are confronting her, and she cannot keep up with their arguments. She is defenseless and thus bowing her head down. There is the use of gestures where they are both pointing at her. In image five, the message from the two male counterparts is overwhelming to the lady to the extent she cannot face them and address the issue. Silence from one of the male speaking lessen the stress experienced by the lady being addressed. Silence allow speaking in turns and thus support a dialogue that will result to an efficient resolution of a conflict or adequately communicating in any situation. Maintaining eye contact by the lady will allow her to respond to the message being conveyed.
