The American Nurses Association (ANA) of ethics for nurses with interpretive statements sets the good customary for the job and gives a direction for nurses on how to use in the ethical analysis and choice making. It originates from within the distinguished, long and lasting moral tradition of current nursing in the United States (Dunn, 1997) . It is non-negotiable in any settings neither is it subjected to any amendments or revision. The code makes it its primary obligation to ensure that nurses uphold their social morals and principles of the profession in every phase of the nurse’s life. It serves several other purposes, for example ; it is a way of nursing’s acceptance of their obligation and duty to the society. Also, it is a concise statement of the ethical standards, duties, responsibilities, ideals and professional virtues of nurses collectively and individually.

According to Cherry & Jacob 2016, Provision one, the nurse practices with compassion, love and respect for personal attributes of each patient. Provision two, the nurse upholds a primary commitment to all patients without bias and discrimination. Provision three, the nurse supports, safeguards and advocates for the human rights and health care of the patients. Rule four, the nurse has power, responsibility and accountability for nursing exercise and performs deeds to deliver the best care. Requirement five, the nurse owes the same duties and obligations to others and self. Rule six, the nurse establishes, maintains and improves the surrounding environment through collective and individual actions conducive to provide quality health. Provision seven the nurse should contribute to the advancement of the profession in various ways. Provision eight the nurse collaborates with other health care professionals to protect the health diplomacy, initiatives and human rights.
