Excel is known for complicated features used mostly by accountants. However, this Microsoft software can be used in simple and daily activities such as stock checking, time management, and expense calculation. Today, anyone, including job seekers, students, teachers, and parents, can use Excel to enhance their lifestyle. A person can choose from financial, text filtration, and logical formulas when planning or analyzing their daily activities. Other vital features include tables and conditional formatting. Indeed, the Microsoft Excel software can be applied at home, work, and school to check and manipulate data of the daily activities.

Arguably, Excel has significant purposes in the organization and management of projects and activities at home. For instance, Excel can be used for budgeting the household items. When a parent wants to go shopping, they can create weekly meal plans on a spreadsheet. Then, they can enter the required food items, the online recipes, and special notes such as “defrost the chicken at 8:30 P.M.” into the spreadsheet table. This strategy ensures that family plans for its expenses. Besides, family members can use Excel to create a to-do list for household activities, including carpool shifts, holiday trips, doctor appointments, and house cleaning. This list ensures that each family member understands their role and works on them on time. Excel has many cells that allow a person to create headings and enlist the activities per time they should be executed.

Furthermore, Excel can be used in the work settings to create charts and graphs for presentation. People who work in companies that have e-commerce platforms can use Excel to track the number of visitors, the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, customer reviews, and current and upcoming events. By entering information such as location, inventory, and demographic into the spreadsheet, a person can check how their strategy is performing. Excel can manipulate the data into a chart that a person can present to his or her employer for performance review. An individual can also use Excel to create and set goals at work. They can create tables that will contain a list of activities that they want to accomplish at the end of each day and script some notes discussing how they will perform these tasks. A person can also calculate the income and expense of their firm. Notably, the “IF” function can be used to create different logics that cover issues such as break-even analysis and VAT invoice. When analyzing data, a person can use conditional formatting, which can display vital trends and highlight exceptions using icons, data bars, and color gradients. One can also use excel to track the performance of a given department and plan for future events. Using the data collected from the current activities, one can create a graph—using search, sorting, and filtering options—to predict the future direction of an organization.

Moreover, Excel can be used in schools to plan for activities. For instance, teachers can create a period planner using the template function in Excel. This feature will enable them to track their classes and create lesson plans. Students can also use Excel to plan for their activities. Using the cells in Excel, students can enlist weekly events based on their dates and times. Before a student proceeds to another project, they can ensure that they have cross-checked their spreadsheet for any undone tasks. This strategy will enhance their time management capabilities. Students can also enlist their performance for each subject and plot graph using the Excel functions, and thus, the chart will inform both the teacher and the student about the performance throughout the semester.

Overall, Excel is applicable in the home, work, and school settings. At home, parents can use it to plan for activities such as shopping and doctor appointments while at work, professionals can use to review their performance over a given period. In school, teachers and students can use Excel to check the rate of academic achievement and plan for daily activities such as lesson plans. Undoubtedly, Excel can foster time management, review of daily tasks, and goal setting in everyday life.
