One important thing I learnt from the course concerns the best way of writing a case study, conducting assessments, and doing evaluations. For instance, one of the case studies we analyzed was about Adriana, who was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The condition would inevitably affect his learning ability because it directly affected his communication and cognitive skills. The assessment, as I learnt, is aimed at expounding the issue to establish the broader implications. I learnt that the disorder would affect how Adriana interacted with his peers, family members, as well as his learning. After conducting the assessment, an evaluation of the condition was done and plausible solutions suggested.
As a special education teacher, I will always work with children with special needs or children suffering from disorders. These children will need to learn just like their peers. Besides, these children suffer from different and unique conditions; hence they will require specialized approaches to foster their learning. Therefore, it will be important for me as a special education specialist to conduct proper assessment and evaluation of the individual needs. A child with ASD, for instance, may require a different approach to learning from, say, a child with dyslexia. It is, therefore, evident that correct assessment enhances better understanding of the special needs, hence suitable teaching strategies.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The special education classes’ course work mainly emphasizes proper assessment of special children’s needs in order to provide effective solutions. This course underpins the course work’s objectives. For example, after Adriana’s ASD was assessed, and the impact was put into a wider perspective, proper solutions were developed. One of them concerned creating a schedule for him to follow to manage his condition best. Evidently, the assessment leads to development of solutions tailored towards solving individual needs.
