Vaccinations have been far viewed as an excellent way to prevent infections. People around the world have been accepted to prevent outbreaks of certain diseases. In the United States, for example, cases of diseases like measles, diphtheria, mumps, and small pox have reduced tremendously as a result of vaccination (Colorado Children’s Immunisation Coalition, 2010-2017). However, concerns have been raised over the possible side effects of vaccination especially to the human immune systems and this has raised a lot of eyebrows. A look at various Epidemiological studies indicate that while preventing one disease, another problem is being created. Nevertheless, it is entirely true that the benefits of vaccination very much outweigh the risks involved.

One of the primary reasons why people tend to question the essence and risk involved in vaccination is because they probably do not see the benefit with their own eyes. This blinds them to the truth that many times people are exposed to a vaccine-preventable disease but their induced immunity saves them. Vaccines do save millions and millions of lives. Before the invention of the vaccine, 503, 282 cases of measles were reported annually (Colorado Children’s Immunisation Coalition, 2010-2017). However, this number was at 55 in 2006.

Again, vaccines are always cheap and affordable. This cannot compare to when someone has to undergo treatment after ignorance. The cost becomes much higher. Further, vaccines are always safe. They are duly tested before they are approved for use in the public (Colorado Children’s Immunisation Coalition, 2010-2017). Moreover, tests are always done from time to tie to ensure that they remain effective and harmless at any cost.

It is true that medicines do cause reactions. Nevertheless, this should not be a hindering factor to taking precaution. From records, the immune system cannot sustain itself to solely provide prevention. Many people have died out of ignorance, but the truth prevails. The impact that vaccination has brought to the world of medicine and health is far much untouchable. Prevention is and always will be better than cure.
