Introduction 

A collaboration encompasses two or more parties working together on several issues and goals over a long-term commitment. A multicultural collaboration is therefore a situation whereby organizations or parties from different cultural backgrounds work together in a long-term commitment to achieve their set goals. These different cultures range from racial attitudes, languages, sense of self, values and traditions and ethnic heritages. A multicultural collaboration needs planning, patience and determination to challenge old attitudes in new ways by working with partners who were not involved. 

Ways in which Multicultural Collaboration may relate to Advocacy 

Advocacy is an action by a person or a group of people aimed at influencing decisions within institutions, social, political and economic systems. Therefore, multicultural collaboration relates to advocacy in such ways as;

It works towards enhancing the voice of the weak in the society is heard by those in power through working as one cultural organization to ensure their cry is heard. 

It is applied where several groups realize a bad situation such as gender inequality that could worsen if no action is taken to curb it. 

In some situations, there are problems among many diverse groups that one group cannot solve by itself in a short period of time hence becomes crucial for different diverse groups to join and work as one towards addressing the issue at hand such as discrimination and corruption. 

Importance of multicultural collaborations 

Multicultural collaboration gets everybody to the table when they all work together as one. Both the weak and the strong are heard. 

It enhances effective communication among different groups working together towards a common goal. 

It creates a strong community of different diverse cultural backgrounds. 

It enriches the lives of the people involved through sharing of knowledge of different cultures involved in the multicultural collaboration. 

Factors to Consider when establishing Multicultural Collaboration within a Community

When the most affected by a problem are not taking part in the solution. 

If the groups represent every cultural group involved in the problem and are well organized. 

If the parties involved are sure about what they are advocating for. 

When several groups of people identify a problem that would worsen if no action is taken. 

Important Components in Creating and Building Multicultural Collaboration within a Community. 

Learning from generalizations concerning other races and cultures. 

The first rule is vigorous practice. 

One should listen empathetically and actively. 

One should respect others’ decision whether to participate or not participate in communication with you. 

One should be prepared to discuss the past and be aware of imbalances of power currently in the community. 

Conclusion 

Multicultural collaboration is a broad topic of discussion but above are its most important aspects of study.
