Response 1:Valerie
Culture is the way of life of a community. The American culture is unique due to the high favor of individuality, which sometimes happens to our disadvantage. I agree with the author on Confucian principles' significance in restoring societal balance (Jiang et al., 2019). There is a need to treat other people by demonstrating unselfishness and empathy. People in society need to treat each other with a largeness of heart as sisters and brothers. There are several thoughts generated by Taoists; longevity, genuineness, vitality, immorality, and omnipotence. I agree with the author that Tao philosophy signifies the fundamental nature of the world. Taoism's three parts exhibit several similarities on the maximization of A man's will is not considered the root cause of evil in Taoism; instead, the assumption is that man needs to place their will in harmony with the natural universe (Jiang et al., 2019). Shamans and hypnotists comprise the practitioners in religious Taoism. The demonstration of kindness and generosity is crucial in the creation of humanity.
Response 2: Toneisha
I agree with Toneisha on some aspects of Confucianism, especially with regard to human social stature focusing on education and emphasizing the significance of respect towards the old in the society. However, I disagree with the author that the culture of the American people respecting the elderly is long gone. Many people continue to value had to respect the elderly. However, I agree with the contribution of education towards respect for elderly people in society. Good morals are gained as people seek education and also through childhood upbringing (Hand, 2020) . It is essential to stick to good morals and values. Good morals and values do not become obsolete. This concept is supported by the three elements of Taoism; health immorality, genuineness, and longevity. The primary focus of Confucianism is human conduct rather than belief and religion. Educating children will ensure that the society has moral values such as respect towards each other and towards elderly people in the society.
