Throughout the world’s history, nations have adopted different governance forms, ranging from absolute monarchy to democratic. There are 20 different forms of government where five are the only forms utilized ( 20 Common Forms of Government , 2020). These include monarchy, oligarchy, totalitarianism, democracy, and authoritarianism.
Following an empirical outlook on the world's economies' current state, I am convinced that there is no best form of government. From a comparative argument based on two common extreme ends, majority argue that democratic countries have the best form of governments, which is not necessarily true. First, the notion of a democratic form of government being superior to an autocratic one arises from the peoples' ability to elect leaders of their choice. Yet, a government's efficiency is determined by its successes in terms of development and service to its citizens ( 20 Common Forms of Government , 2020) . With that in mind, there have been unsuccessful democracies and successful autocratic governments. The most explicit example is the Chinese government, which, despite being an authoritarian regime, the nation has a well-advanced economy than most democratic countries.

Based on the brief argument presented above, one may offer a counter-argument asserting that freedom, the ability to represent the people, better governance transparency, and respect of human rights are aspects of democratic government and absent in an autocratic government. The assertion should be deemed weak since economic growth is a product of political stability. Furthermore, the autocracy would be a tool to enforce transparency, respect for human rights, and freedom. Although the U.S. is known to have a stable democratic form of government, most African Americans and other minorities continue to feel unsatisfied with the government's attempts to fight racism.
The argument's key aim is not to justify the credibility of any government but to illustrate that any form of government could be the best depending on policy implementation. But then again, if I were to choose one, I would prefer a Democratic Socialist since it advocates for an economy that not only works for the wealthy. This form of government focuses on the 'Green New Deal' that conserves the environment, free colleges, and promotion of equality by empowering movements such as the BLM ( U.S election 2020, 2020) . Essentially, Bernie Sander's manifesto is an introductory presentation of the goals that the best form of government should seek to achieve.
