I think the best performance evaluation method I would choose is a structured performance review. This approach uses objective parameters to measure the employees’ performance. Firstly, the approach starts with the job description, and in this regard, as a manager, I would be looking at the requirements of the job. I, therefore, need to firstly understand what the job entails, and whether an employee understands what it is. Such steps would subsequently lead to the examination of whether the employee is performing according to the specifications of the job description. Nevertheless, understanding the job specification is not just enough; rather, it is also important to evaluate the contribution of the employee to the progress or profitability of the organization. In that regard, the objective will be to evaluate how well they perform. Objectivity in such an approach prevents emergence of some issues or criticism on aspects such as race and gender discrimination, as well as sexual harassment. Often, employees are usually given tasks to perform and complete, and with a structured performance review, the objective is to establish whether the employees perform and complete the assigned tasks. Therefore, this method eliminates bias, hence is a good method to measure and evaluate the performance of employees.
