She does not engage in teasing as has been the case with her opponent and chooses to speak about the challenges in the country that should be addressed. It is for this reason that I would vote for the Sebelius.

7. Did the candidate win or lose the election? If they won, what did they accomplish after they won the office? If they lost, who did win the election?

Following the campaign for electoral position of county supervisor, Lisa Bartlett won the election as Fifth District Supervisor. Bartlett beat Robert Ming in November 2014 to clinch the supervisor job and has been able to gain reputation as one of the meticulous, detail-oriented, and professional leaders to hold the position. The Supervisor has been able to embark on various issues affecting the region including the developing ways to improve mental health services, waste management, improving the animal shelter, and redevelopment of Dana Point Harbor. Bartlett also indicated that she will focus on issues affecting the veterans and the homeless as a major factor towards improving the county.

Furthermore, she has approved of the Green Finance Authority Establishment Act of 2018 that makes Washington the first city in the country to set up a green bank that seeks to combat climate change issues. Bowser also embarked on her mission to improve the DC Public Schools as she vetoed an emergency bill that council members had passed in June. The bill was meant to prevent Public Schools from relying on chronic absenteeism of student as “sole reason” for graduating or promoting children.

Kathleen Sebelius was able to achieve victory in the Kansas gubernatorial election of 2002. She defeated Tim Shallernburger who was running under the Republican ticket. She has been able to champion on her popularity among the public to enforce major changes in the state of Kansas. According to Time Magazine, she was considered as one of the five best governors in the country as by November 2005, she had managed to eliminate $1.1 billion she had inherited, supporting public education, and minimizing state government waste. All this was done without raising the taxes for the members of the society. She effectively enforced a bipartisan approach towards governing the state in a region where the Republicans largely controlled the Legislature.

8. Regarding all three ads: what differences do you see between them? Are there noticeable differences in production quality, music selection, ad length, language used, choice of clothing, or anything else that you observe?

There are significant differences in the three campaign ads. For one, it is evident that Kathleen Sebelius’ ad is of the poorest quality. This may largely be due to the fact that it was produced more than a decade before the other two. At the time, there was lower quality of technology. As a result, the video may not be as appealing as the other two. Muriel Bowser’s video seems to be quite similar to that of Lisa Bartlett. Both are seen to introduce the message to the voters before showing the important interactions that they may engage in with the locals. The practice is an effective measure of ensuring a close connection with the voters.
